Ok, that's just funky. Some people baffle me.

But anyway if GM had the only dealers doing this then I could see your investment point. But they ALL do it when they have a commodity. And they are ALL hurting right now. GM spread it'sself too thin. imo So did Chrysler. And their the ones hurting most. You are assuming that the Camaro will sell volume. I beleive they will but it's not a gaurantee. And remember, alot of dealers got 'The letter', what incentive do they have to sell at or under MSRP? If i'm not mistaken they don't shut the doors immediately.

I choose to run my own business by undercutting the other guy and it works very well for me. I don't have the overhead that the giant national guys do which helps me stay more flexible. If I were to get big and they get small it would be the 180 opposite. It allways balances it'self out. Sometimes it's very painful, especially when your talking big business but the market will fix it'self.

I've been to a wide variety of dealers in the past. I've had every trick in the book thrown at me too. "Let me see if they will agree to that, I'm not sure we can sell it that low", "I have to call my wife and let her know we won't be sending our kid to college" (I got up and left). "I'll show you the invoice" (not the real invoice mind you). "We make nothing if you pay invoice" (bullcrap). There are many many more dealers use and I don't remember all the experiences I've had but the point is

With some dealers you can tell if there not telling the truth. There talking!

Some dealers are fair and work to build reputations. These are the ones I look for now.

We've had a couple V6 cars that we've purchased from other dealers because they've received the wonderful letter from GM saying good buy. And I've had to pay over sticker for those cars. That being said, I've put a price adjustment sticker in the window to cover me. If I don't put that sticker in the window, any Joe (sloppy or not) can come through my door and be able to buy the car for what it's listed at and I lose $1000 or more depending on the car.
What it all comes down to is that dealers have to be profitable. So what if I have a sticker on a car that is more than the MSRP. You, the customer, has a job as a consumer to buy the car as cheap as you can. Me, the dealer, has a job to sell the car for as much as I can. Let's see who's better at their respective job.

Oh, and for those of you that care, that Red Jewel 2SS that we've been discussing, gets delivered in the morning at MSRP. All he did was come in my dealership, act like a gentleman and purchased one of the first SS Camaro's in a 3 State area.

If anybody needs to ever contact me, I can be reached at 866-782-4389 ext 427

I really could care less what you sell your cars for, I can easily find another dealer that sells at MSRP or below. The fact that your Sales Mgr lied to me about the reason for the mark up in an attempt to justify your $7K mark up is what I have a problem with. Saying Reliable was basically forced to mark up THIS car (2G1FK1EJ4A9107774) because you bought it from another dealer in another state at a much, much higher price was a bold face lie.

The VIN records shows this has always been Reliable Chevrolets car for one of Reliable Chevrolets customers (a Mr. Burns Pre-ordered this SS ). Mr. Burns pre-order gave you a great opprotunity to get this car early and sell it for much more than MSRP (Why Mr. Burns isn't getting this car is probably a whole other story. I wish he was a member here? ).

This post was only started to determine ONLY if your dealership lied to Me about THIS car. I have no doubt your Sales Mgr. Randall did, others can judge for themselves.

I think the only way you can start to rebuild our trust in Reliable Chevrolet with Camaro5 members is to immedately fire Randall for lieing to customers and to sell ME this car at MSRP or below (as it seems you now willing to do for another customer.) I'll be waiting for your call....Randall has my number.

That's the problem I have with car salesmen. Well, guess who would be better at their job, the guy who does it every day or the guy that does it once every 4 or 5 years. I have a friend that was a car salesman for years. He quit because of all the shady stuff that goes on behind the scene. He said the biggest d!@k$ got the best deals. Don't worry about them making a living either. The salesman I ordered my Camaro from came right out and told me he makes $180,000 per year. Granted he is the fleet manager, but damn, don't b!tc# about a few bucks I want off for document and destination fee's when you make 3 times more than I make.

Come in to my studio and I'll give you a price. I'll dare you to beat my price and I know if you do you'll be sorry. But guess what. If you beat my price, I just lost a client. Guess I may have to go down in price. This is the way it works.

Once again, I'm only talking to those who say a dealer is a scumbag for giving the price UP FRONT and no back end hidden markups. Not the ones who agree to a price and THEN mark up. It's perfectly fair for a dealer to, as long as their up front. If you don't like the price, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. It doesn't make the dealer evil.
