You know its sad..... but your right :( At least at the drag strip a ZL1 running against a Shelby is like a SS(LS3) running against a LS/LT with a six banger.

This will always keep them behind
During the 70's the Trans Am and Formula had more power and better handling than the Corvette.

I'll preffice this by saying of course a GT500 vs a ZL1 with comparable drivers the GT500 would win. But yet again the GT500 was not stock against a stock ZL1. The GT500 with a better intake probably gained 20HP on top of its factory advantage. Bottom line anyone who cares enough will mod their car.

And sure he got banned for "just" speaking the truth.

I love how people are saying choose the right venue and the ZL1 is made for road racing. Maybe the ZL1 should have been called the Z28. Because to the best of my recollection the top copo was the ZL1, and was a drag strip terror. Some where GM got their lines crossed. I love my ZL1 and will be buying a convertible for the wife. Am I slightly disappointed in terms of straight line performance, kinda. But the car truly makes up for it in terms of refinement when compared to the SS. It's like the ZL1 is the old guys Camaro now and I can see why GM targeted this demographic because at the price the competition is fierce.

Its pretty clear that if you want to run with the factory stangs you gotta mod. That just kinda ..... sucks:( I hope we can do something in 2014, if not I have high hopes for the 6th gen.

That's life, someone is always going to be faster... if you harp on who's faster all the friggen time you will never enjoy YOUR car for the REASONS you bought it.

Think again my friend. A lot of vette guys are insecure and disliked the camaro coming with the LS3 and hated the idea of the ZL1. They think the vette should be king and nothing else should even come close (and god forbid, beat) the vette. They feel that the camaro would lower their resale value as well.

There's no shame in losing to another Domestic V8 (be it a Mustang or not). The Camaro vs Mustang war has raged for years and HOPEFULLY will continue to rage...the quest for dominance between Ford and Chevy is the reason we're able to buy 600 hp cars that get 20+ mpg and come with a factory warranty. Without these two companies (and their customers) constantly pushing for an edge over the competition, we'd all be force fed Toyota Prius's or Chevy Volts.

I always laugh at the heated debates (arguments) between Ford/Chevy haters in each camp...don't they realize that without one, there wouldn't be the other? It's a symbiotic relationship entirely reliant upon one another...If Ford stopped making the "hated and despised" Mustang tomorrow...how long do you think our precious Camaro's would be produced?

So do everyone a favor...the next time you line up beside "the enemy" at a light...throw them a wave and tell them thanks for helping to perpetuate the hobby that we all love...V8 Muscle.

Take him to a road track where he has to keep up with you on corners and banks. You'll eat his lunch and be comfortable doing it. His arms will hurt, his legs will hurt and he'll stumble away thinking someone just him like a step-child. It's not always about straight line speed

Then you don't really want a ZL1 for that. You should get and SS and mod it.
Besides, who cares, I just like your avatar!
