Sounds like many of you have forgotten one tiny fact. This car that we all love is made in CANADA. Not in America. Canada contrary to a lot of your thinking is not the 51st state. It is a foreign country (and no they don't use chopsticks up there either!). I am an American (and Navy veteran) working for a Canadian company (selling machinery to Asia). I already own a Canadian built car - Honda Odyssey, and it has been a great car. I am looking forward to buying another Canadian built car, but not because it is Canadian built, because I like the styling, I like the build quality that I have seen on the one sample that I have actually sat in. Mind you that I have not even test driven this car yet, as I am sure most of us on this site have not. Some of you need to stop being xenophobic. We live in a big world and it is not all scary out there. Alright end of rant!

I give people a way harder time for buying non-American than anyone would dare give me for buying American. My dad owns several japanese car dealerships, and chevy is the only one that's not japanese, and I know the only dealership of his I would ever by a car from. People have said things about American cars to me before, not knowing how passionate I am, and they have suffered for that. :flag1:

lol thats how you know you picked the right car! Im sure they drove straight home, farted in a wine glass, and inhaled after they yelled at you.

Give ME a hard time for buying American, or North American if it makes you happy? Not likely. I'm usually the one dishing out grief for NOT buying American. Esp. if it's some Asian-labelled econo-POS. Your Canadian-made Honda? Guess who gets the lion's share of the profits? JAPAN.

I don't think anyone has forgotten that the car itself is built in Canada...it's the fact that the car is made by an American Car company that has a plant in Canada. The profits from this car fund an American business. The Toyota Tundra (damn that's an ugly truck) is made in San Antonio, Texas. It may be built in the US, but the profits from that truck go to a Japanese car company who headquarters are in wherever, Japan.

They have not made much of a profit recently. But it's not like big ships of money going back to Japan. They pay starting $21 bucks an hour plus health insurance. No union.

I never said they were shipping boats loads of cash to Japan...but just making a point that even though the Tundra is made in Texas, its profits fund a Foreign automaker...Whereas even though the Camaro is made in Canada, it's profits fund an American automaker.

Stay American!
331,000 on my '88 S10 Blazer with no internal engine repairs on it's 2.8L V-6. Not a bit of blue smoke when you start it up, I bought it new in '88 and simply do routine maintainence like clockwork, we keep it as a spare vehicle so we have something to drive when one of the others needs to go in the shop. And it has had some hard service, many trips to the NC Outer Banks and lots of hours driving on the beach. We're all GM at this house and I suggest to most everyone I know that they need to buy and drive American and leave the imports alone. I've gotten excellent service from all of my GM vehicles over the last 30 years.

Well the last time I checked, Canada was located in North America, so technically that should qualify as American. Not to mention the fact that GM is a US based company. Sorry, it is very scary out there, let me know how scary it isn't a few years down the road when our country is owned lock, stock, and barrel by foreign countries. Can't happen here? I think you better look again, it's getting closer and closer every day.

That's what's scary, but people can keep saving a few hundred dollars and buying japanese cars. They're the ones that look like cheap idiots.
