Run flats would have been nice on the SS, but I'm honestly not freaking out about it. Corvettes don't have spares (do have run flats) How often do people get flats these days? The way tires are made today it doesn't happen very often. It's not like it's a life or death issue here.

I had run flats on my 02 Vette and replaced them with Goodyear F1 non run flats. The ride and road noise is SO much better with the non run flats.

The Pirelli tires on the SS are a very thick tire. Not sure of the number of plies but definately as heavy and stiff as a truck tire so the likelihood of blowouts is low, especially with the TPMS which will give you an early warning of an impending tire problem. If you do experience a flat though, the Blue OnStar button is right there to use.

Well not all flat tires are pin hole in size. What are you to do in the event of the side wall getting sliced or a blow out. You would think they would have made room for this instead of cramming a battery in the back of the car where the spare tire should be.
After having a sidewall failure and had to be towed to the dealership I order my spare kit from Patrick at GM Part House. Cheaper price than what the dealer was going charge me.

I am going to get a tire plug kit rather than use the can of snot. And not to hijack but, so that 's where the battery is, I have looked at my nice big piece of styrofoam and my tire kit, but did not see the battery.

Yes not life or death, but it is pretty inconvenient if you're on a road trip and have a tire die. Years ago, not a big issue because most tire stores actually had product on hand, now you're stuck hoping the distributor has a new tire they can get within a day or two, because everything has to be shipped. So, if you're cool being stuck somewhere waiting, you don't need a spare.

For anyone who is interested in trying to find a spare tire on their own...in the event that they are running into any troubles with parts stores...the tire size for the spare that fits the 1LT with 18" Wheels is:

T155/70-R18 (112M)

Got Spare!

I just had a flat and the sealant didnt do crap for my tire, the air still came right back out. Next when I called Onstar they wanted to tow it to the nearest dealership and this was at 10pm at night and advised me to take a cab home or pay an extra $85 to have them tow it to my house. What a big inconvenience they might as well had built the car without seatbelts, that how stupid not having a spare tire is. So next time you drive through Ca finest smooth roads and you get a flat just think about the spare tire you should of had and deal with the Onstar "We only tow to a gm dealer and not your home" even though their closed and your stranded. The last words outs their mouth is "I'm sorry to hear that". A spare is needed tires blow out and catch flats.

Hahaha so true. I don't even worry about not having a spare. If I get a flat I'm just going to pull over to the side and help is a press of a button away!
