SSTOCK
|
I've got a TVS2300 and a little blower cam setup, visually the car looks completely stock. License plate reads "SSTOCK."
People like that typically come up to me and try goosing it a little, I just open the cutouts, drop a gear and give it a little kick. Most of them proceed to make a right at the next available stoplight.

90% of those are convertibles too, much better for the smoke in the face effect. Can't stand when people don't have common courtesy I added 6.2 below the camaro just to troll the 5.0 mustangs and suddenly all the hondas, VW hatchs and G coupes stopped trying to race

I think all you need is a Camaro....i dont really think the badging matters. I have had everything from cars to bikes try and goat me into racing. Ive had this happen to me before and after i was blown. I think the most priceless look i have seen is when some tool bag on a sport bike pulled up beside me and kept racing his engine and looking at me as if to say lets see what you got. Lets just say he was seriously caught off guard and he let up his visor at the next stop and was like WTH you got under there brother....whatever it is, its bad a$$! Those were his words...lol! I know i drifted a bit but as i said before, just the fact that your car says Camaro people will try you! Just my 10 cents.

Well when I had my 2010 1LT I got challenged all the time until I put the 1LT badge on the trunk and the HP emblems on the cowl. Then they stopped. Same thing happened in our 2012 1LT. So it helps to stop them when you add them on a V6, at least around here it does.

I have YET to experience someone even remotely trying to race me. Seemingly opposite effect back when I had a Supra, STi and my Mazdaspeed3's over the years.
Shame... I always like a good reason to crank up that V8! |

Type R emblems are race triggers.

All you need is to have someone you know or a family member be hurt or killed by some fool thinking its ok to street race and you would understand why. Again I apologize for singling you out.

I tend to lean toward the pro-active approach. Get these people on camera and send the info to police. I might be wrong on this but even challenging another car to a race is illegal in most places as well as driving aggressively. I know most don't like this idea because it makes people feel like a rat or a coward but this street racing thing is dangerous and usually it's not the racers getting hurt but rather the public (parents and kids). The more you get the cops involved with this garbage the more likely you'll see a reduction in it. |

old school chevy rodder

Going up to and around the speed limit faster than the other car is simply showing your muscle of your car, going over board from there is street racing and dangerous.
I have driven a lot of hot rods with different badging or none over the years and there inevitably will allways be some dumb punk trying to show off to his buddies. And its not worth the trouble. Wether I was driving a 65 impala wagon, or 71 monte carlo, or a chevelle ss, or a nova, or a yugo, or what ever there is and allways will be jerks on the road. Occassionally embarassing one is funny, but being a prudent defensive driver is of course allways the number one priority. I have helped people at accident scenes, and avoided accidents, and witnessed accidents and we all have a responsibility to our fellow motorists to be cool. I never tail gate, and will pull into the slow lane to let a clown go by before I would endanger anyone else, but on a freeway many people think they are the king of the road, wether your car has a thousand h.p. more than thiers or not it is almost allways the wise decision to avoid any appearance of racing. And wether you have emblems or not is all up to you, just imagine a beautiful old chevy without its crossed flags and cowl induction emblems, or the engine size proudly displayed. To alter ones car to avoid jerks is stupid I think. I have had multiple safe driver courses and carry a class A license, and I usually just ignore the jerks, but if they get to close and endanger me I blow thier doors off for a short distance to let them know to back off, or just drive slower than slow, and turn if need be. And yes I have been assaulted in road rage, and I made sure the punk went to jail, and faced him and his friend down alone. For many being assaulted is not an option if not well versed in self defense. Never trust anyone, never turn your back for a second to a enraged motorist, and seek help from the police if neccessary. And do not think twice about calling in a drunken or dangerous driver. It may be your life you save. And as I learned even pulling off the road and parking may leave you vulnerable to attack. Road racing is just asking for trouble, and trouble has a way of finding you wether you are looking for it or not. Take it from a disabled vet who works in a penitentiary, be smart, drive smart, happy motoring, and do not be afraid to be proud of your ride, it may just save your life. |
