I think having brake coolers on the ZL1 is a pretty good clue that its a track car not a dragster. The brake fade on the GT500 isn't going to be fixed by just changing pads and fluid. When the rotor and calipers light up, they're going fade, period.

I think the ZL1 is GM moving on from the pony wars into a more exclusive club full of Porsches, Ferraris, Audis, etc...kicking their butt I might add. The GT500 just cant compete outside the drag strip and its clear that Ford is happy with things being that way.
So lets stop talking about ZL1 vs GT500s and lets talk ZL1 vs R8s or Murcielagos.

So in effect, things haven't changed all that much in comparison. (except the ride quality and all the safety and performance enhancements) While the Mustang has done a good job overall, I believe the ZL-1 is more of a complete car that does many more things well.

These are the salad days of pony cars people. It's "Jurassic Park"...the DNA was extracted and the dinosaurs recreated for us to enjoy. But bad things happen to send them back to extinction once they've been released. (aka EPA strangulation). Twin turbo V6's may be bad ass, but if I can't have a V8, I'm done.

Buy 'em before they're done, folks.
I like the "Jurassic Park" description

Haha that's a good one. Why not compare to a gtr then.

Actually, just a fluid change DOES address that. And I'm sorry, but the ZL1 IS a competitor to the GT500, as witnessed by the fact that the GT500 beats ZL1 on just as many road courses as the ZL1 beats it. I think you need to rethink the ZL1 vs. Ferraris, Porsches and Audis argument.

But it's not fastest at the drag strip so it must be made to beat the gtr. They are both heavy and both have 580ish hp. Both have advanced suspension. Both have forged wheels. Both have carbon fiber in the body. Zl1 hood! So why can't it beat that import jap scrap pos? All bow to mighty zl1.

Nv way to go man that's what needed to be said. I love all fast, powerful, good handling cars. Hell if someone gave me an arial atom I would strap my helmet on and drive the tires off it! Just because it doesn't have a Bowtie the fan boys hate. They don't understand that competition within a call can make all the cars better. Pretty soon we won't have big v8 muscle cars. EPA will make fun illegal and we will all be stuck with toasters.

Let me correct you sir !!

ZL1 is not in the class of the GT-R to compete with it.

ZL1 is a car.

GT-R is an aircraft .
