Capacity in the crankcase and capacity in the oil filter are very different things. Capacity in the oil filter is how much dirt the filter can hold before it plugs up, bypasses, and become, useless. This can become a big deal if you're using synthetic oil and extending your oil change intervals like synthetic oil was designed for.

I'm partial to the Purolater Pure Ones. I just read over on the FJR 1300 boards that Purolater has release new Synthetic Pure One filters for use with synthetic oil. It has extra capacity for the synthetic extended oil change intervals. But I'm sure this extra capacity would be a good thing no matter what oil your using or how often you change it. Advance sells Purolater. I went there today to buy a couple of the synthetics and they didn't have any. Looks like I'm going to have to find a new source for my oil filters.
