I do think the Trans Am 4th gen is meaner looking, but my Z runs great.

What does a bone stock 5th gen SS run in the 1/4 mile? My 98 TA (A4) ran 13.2 @ 105 mph bone stock when I bought it back in 99. I just sold it a few months ago and still miss it; but I love my new car even better!

5th Gen SS: 3850lbs/426hp = 9.04 lbs/hp 4th Gen SS: 3306lbs/350hp = 9.46 lbs/hp impressive times for a heavy car, even if we know that the new camaro is aerodynamic as a brick ![]() if the 4 gen is a amazing car, don't know why people don't like it and I give a @$#% I know that this car is amazing |

Most of the complaints I have heard about the 4th gen is the "bubble body."

It leaves you needing a 1st & 2nd gen.

5th gen all the way, i have a 4th myself. Anytime i get into it after driving my 5th gens i ask myself why the hell do i still have this car? Dont get me wrong 550 rwhp full coil over suspension ,etc. i prefer the 5th gen layout everytime over the archaic 4th gen and its odd design. The worst qualities are the hatchback and the motor thats tucked halfway under windsheild and dash.

That is what I have been telling my wife. She agrees, as long as she can drive them. So, I don't see that in my near future. I am afraid to let her drive my toys. I don't think our mailbox can take any more abuse.

I agree, keep it if you can. I already have owned two vehicles that unfortunately I say I really miss and one of them was a 1994 Camaro. Worse yet the kid that bought the 94 off me destroyed it about 3 weeks later.

I owned a 4th gen LS1 Z28 prior to the 5th gen and I feel that the 5th gen is a faster car stock to stock the A4 to A6 is the huge difference to me. No hesitation when giving gas with the A6. Maybe the A4 in my Z was just worn out by 100k miles. Most would feel that the 5th gen is slightly faster. You also have to think LS1 vs LS3 or L99.

With that said, the 4th gen LS1 is quite the "bang for the buck" -- much in the way the 5.0 fox Mustangs were in the 80's/90's. Whether one wants a dedicated drag racer, road racer, or something capable of both, the 4th gen is quite the performance chameleon. Love the looks or hate the looks, one is merely in denial if they can't accept what the 4th gen is capable of doing out of the box. Whatever one is looking for in a vehicle with personality, it's impossible to go wrong with either generation.
