You lease jellybean cars or cars you don't care about. You want to OWN a Camaro. I guess I'll never understand about leasing a Camaro. Unless it's a business write-off, etc., it makes no financial sense to me.
Cheaper payments don't make financial sense to you? If you're trading in a car every couple of years why would you take higher payments over lower payments? Either way you're not having much of anything to show for it in the end Other than the joy of driving the car for a couple of years.

Different strokes for different folks. Not everyone thinks like you. I've had mine since November 2011 and barely passed 3k miles on it. Bought it outright and it just sits in the garage and I hardly even think about it anymore.

4500 down for a lease is way too much IMO.

20K down? The whole purpose of a lease is to use as little cash as possible.

I just worked out a deal on a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sahara MSRP $38500 and said I was going to purchase and worked out to $33489 OTD and then I said let me see my lease option on that price.
Worked out to $10.88 per month for 39 months. Of course I have execellent credit and put down $20K but if I did not put anything down $265 a month for 39 months at 14,000 miles a year and turn in and get a new one.

That 4500 down should be equal to about -$130 a month

Try closer to 96 months depending on the deal and interest rates.

I agree. Lease an everyday car you won't mind dumping Ina couple of years. If its not going to be a primary vehicle, buy it.

I know km's and miles are a different story, but I have owned my car for 6-7 months now, and have put 15,000 km's on it. My uncle's buddy leased a truck, and went over his mileage by 8500 km, and his payments the next year were almost 20% higher. The way they calculate the lease, is that in 4 years, the car will be worth (x) and the price of the car now is (y). we take (y) minus (x) with 48,000 miles (low for a 4 year old car) and we come up with (z). (z) devided by 48 months, will be your lease payment, plus taxes and interest. If you go over your km's, then the car will be worth less at the end, and they will not be able to recoup as much (x) at the end of your 48 month lease. so they make up for that by increasing your term amount, or (z). lol i probably just made no sence, but I went through a 2 hour lecture on this when I was thinking about leasing my car at first.

What is the residual value? Are you planning to keep it or trade it in after the lease ends?

There's nothing wrong with leasing a car. Everyone thinks you have nothing to show for it. Well, you used the car for a few years and it was less than buying it. Most times you finance a car what do you have to show for it. Generally a car worth less than you owe after 36/39 months. So in effect, buying is stupid cause you have a hole to show for it...LOL

BTW I bought mine. Why, you ask after what I just said... Cause I wouldn't mod a car I do not own.
