You have to drill out the factory rivets that hold on the license plate bracket...good luck..cus once the rivet starts spinning and heating up...it melts the plastic bumper and you have a bigger hole !! Trust me ..I fixed a few crashed Camaros.

Even then i can't bring myself to drill in it. The pictures are pretty self explanatory and it shouldn't cost much at all to get the supplies from a hardware store. I already had all these supplies so it was free for me.

+2 also like that idea. these 1LE's just look like they are breaking the law standing still. I think I am going to try that so I dont give them a easy excuse to pull me over.

Instead of drilling it out you might want to use a dremel and just grindor cut the head off the rivet. But take your time so you don't get the plastic too hot and melt it.

Could you do that to the mounting bracket instead of the actual plate then bolt the plate like normal to the bracket? Then it will look like the plate is bolted on and not zip tied, the zip ties will be hidden by the plate.

I like his way not very bulky and if you want bolts there so police like the way its mounted put a couple these on there with glue or 3M tape

or Cut the head of a screw or bolt and put that on.

Then why is GM selling $15 brackets to states that have to have them?

I just risk the ticket. I made sure the dealer knew not to ruin the front end with a tag before I bought it. lol

Most dealers would give them to you complimentary for states that require a front plate. The GM website (and presumably other states) charge $15 as an add-on because it's not a necessary item in all areas.

The front grill does contain a flat surface on the 2014's where you would mount a license plate and/or plate holder. It is not in contact with the bumper, but, rather, a lower grill area with pre-centered dimples (definitely on the 14' SS, at least) the exact size of a license plate.

This makes it very easy to drill your own holes as you simply need a drill bit to gently cut through plastic. It's also significantly cheaper to replace the plastic in the future, if you change your mind, than it would be to repaint a bumper or order a new one.

I bought my car in PA so they never gave me a bracket.

Last car didn't have a front plate, got away with it for3 years without a ticket.
I had to get a NJ inspection since I bought the car in PA.

I got 2 heavy duty zip ties and mounted the plate bracket in the stock place, but did not need to drill.

Can remove without a trace.
