Honestly, the tail lights have completely warmed up to me, think they look nice, almost more fitting and grown up. Although I'll say they do look like a Challenger when lit up at night and at a distance...
As far as the rest of it, don't know if I love the overall package but it definitely looks more mature/upscale. Whether that's better or not, is each and every person's opinion. Good article OP!

The 911 is the greatest, longest lasting auto speed form ever designed and has kept paced aesthetically with only minor body refinements over the past 50 years. They reinforced their sales with the Cayenne, Cayman, and Panamera, built on the reputation of the 911. The Camaro, Mustang, Corvette, etc. were and are still ugly and not desirable from 1973/74 until the late 90's. The Corvette has somewhat maintained it's identity from 1963 to current. It wasn't until Detroit went back to the retro styles of the late 60's early 70's that the Mustang, Challenger, and Camaro had some style again. Shown below is a 1963 911 with Dr. Ferdinand Porsche and a 2013 911.

Part of the reason why I dislike Porches is that they are identical from year to year, generation to generation. Boring.

X2. They are undeniably great cars but to me the 911's styling in particular is just kind of blah, not bad but not exciting at all either, stuck in an aesthetic time warp.

Well since this whole thread is opinionated, I'll add my .02...never been a corvette fan, but the new one looks and specs awesome! The jeep is just meh to me since it would take a lot to get me to buy one anyway. The ENTIRE Chevy lineup for '14 looks amazing EXCEPT for the Camaro...that's what hurts the most, my 2010 is my 5th camaro I have owned and I love them all. Plain and simple the tailights are not to my liking and they will never be..I have seen iterations of slight changes or revisions and they could be better but will GM CHANGE THEM? No, because they think that they know what is best for consumers as all car companies do, and either they are right or I am wrong, and I hope I am only time and sales will tell the tale.

Being one of those who didn't like the refresh and stated as such, I decided to not just put in my 2 cents about what I don't like, but to contribute what I DO like so the Camaro team could have some constructive feedback instead of just being pinned in the corner under a barrage of vegetables and tomatoes.
I started this thread about my idea/ideas for the 2016 Camaro: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=310821 In the course of doing this I have discovered some interesting things. Even though the thread is rather new, it's already gotten over 10,000 views yet hardly any comments by comparison. People are very willing to be vocal about what they don't like, but very few will tell you what they DO like... something I find interesting. I discovered automotive design rules #1 and #2: #1. You can't please everybody #2. When you think you have a really good design, see rule #1. In the process of developing my ideas I've also developed a much greater appreciation and respect for what the Camaro team has to go through. There are so many things to consider in a design; style being only one of them, yet style seems to be the biggest hot button when it comes to enthusiast/customer reaction. In an age where looks have become elevated to such an extent that even teens are getting plastic surgery to try and "improve" what they see as their flaws, it's not surprising that the obsession with appearance has carried over into the automotive market. Many critics also seem to forget that the automotive business IS a business and those considerations have to be involved; designing a car isn't just a looks contest. A host of other factors have to be taken into account which may or may not have an impact on styling. I have nothing but respect for the Camaro design team and the enormity of the task ahead of them; changing the design of a Camaro. That has to be one of the most exciting, challenging and gut-wrenching jobs in the industry. I truly hope they come up with a winner for 2016 but no matter what they do I know that rules #1 and #2 will be in full force.
