I think I just started the topic all wrong. Here's a good example, Cadillac. They changed all the names of the cars and took the brand in a new direction.

So if the Camaro was taken in a new direction I think it would be fair to change the name.

But the Ford Probe is definitely an example of how renaming backfires, that was a great point.

Just thinking out loud really. It's ok if I'm wrong

Probe was just about the worst name ever. I used to joke that when getting a colonoscopy,"I was rear ended by a probe today".

Cadillac needed a reboot at that time so they brought the "Art and Science" design theme in and more or less relaunched the brand. And I dont think anyone lamented losing the Catera for the eventual CTS .

I think this would be an especially good idea if GM ever moves away from V8s. If they try to reinvent the car at some point maybe they should rename it. The Chevy Impala is a good example maybe...to me that thing is no Impala. What do you guys think?
Not anytime soon.

And lolwut. Impala is the best Chevrolet sedan in decades. You'd have a hard time trying to find one negative review.

But there's no need to change the name. Camaro will remain a RWD 2+2 sports coupe. It's not going in a different direction any time soon.

every Generation of the Camaro has changed but it has always been the Camaro. they are not going to make it front wheel drive & 4 doors anytime soon.
they may come out with a electric engine for it which is fine

Well according to rumor...what do you think the "C" in CTS stands for?

The Catera lives on.
