I hope its totaled but I doubt it will be. They will just cut out the bad side panel metal and weld in a new section. It will never be as strong as the original but it will look okay. Thats going to be the major problem with the "one piece side" on the new Camaro. Please let us know what the outcome is.

Glad you weren't hurt.

Holy shiite, that stinks. I'm sorry, man. I'm thrilled that the collision shop at my dealership has yet to see a damaged camaro... We've seen more damaged zr1's than we have camaros! The zr1 was totalled 2 days after he bought it for $50k over sticker, so just think that it could be worse :/

You just got unlucky this time.
I never really did this either till I noticed more than a few peeps run red lights. Now I TRY to always look both ways first, but I forget sometimes. Hope that other idiot got a nice FAT ticket and his license suspended!

Holy cow! So glad you are OK, and that the safety they put into our babies is top notch!

That said, unless they did some serious beefing I am thinking your unibody my be sprung and that would do the car in wouldn't it?

I hate it for you....... damn...... i commend you on being calm, because i would have probably went to jail for assault after EMS would've gotten my fist out of his face and foot out his ass.

oh no.....Sorry this has happen. I know it has to be tough but you walked away from this literally thank goodness. Glad you are okay. Now just gotta stand strong against the insurance companies and tell them you will settle for nothing less than a new car since this was what you had....They know that this car will never be the same.

At least here, to the best of my knowledge, running a red light/stop sign should be a rather large ticket. Terribly sorry to hear about the accident. I hope Hylton's right and insurance rules in your favor on the cost of damage. Apparently it all depends on what state you're insured in. For example, a friend got into a wreck here in SC. Both cars sustained about the same amount of damage. The other driver's car was totaled (insured in SC) but my friend's wasn't (insured in FL). Best of luck to you.

On a positive note, I'm really happy with the safety of the new Camaro in crashes.

Really sorry about your awesome car, but I was just wondering how well this coupe could take side-on collisions, since that's the kind of accident you can't do anything to prevent, and I'm really glad to hear it's beastly at taking hits

Unfortunatley, doesn't look totalled to me... just a new door and driver front side panel...
