IS IT 2009 YET???
|
I'm waiting also, for many reasons...
I want the next gen. power train, AWD or Traction Control. And we have a family policy to NEVER buy anything on credit...So I have to save 40g to buy the Camaro...But I’ve been saving ever since they announced it, 1 1/2 years now. Got 20g's in a money market account, and at the end of each and every month, whatever we have left over Is deposited into that account. Since its getting close to the release date I’m working 60hrs or more a week until I have the rest (Over time and Double time adds up fast! .I can't wait to go in and order the model with everything to spec. The day it arrives will be the happiest day of my life. Well second to the birth of my children and getting married to my wonderful wife (had to add that)

If she stay current on all her payments and pays the cards off, it'll go up some but hard to say! Maybe 50 points...takes lots of years to repair credit!
But if its high enough and she finances some of the car loan for you, and you guys stay current on the car note, her credit score will go up higher and higher every year...ya ya I know im Captian Obvious! |

I'll buy what I can afford. If I decide a powerful V6 is the right car for me, I'll be proud to drive a Chevrolet again. If I can afford the extra muscle of a V8, I'll get one with very few or no options. I don't want the top model. Most of the options GM will offer are unnecessary. I'm not buying a luxury car; I'm buying a muscle car.

Well I will get a Z/28 (I know GM will release it, why wouldn't they?). I am 22 and working as a pharmacy tech. My only bills are rent, utilities, cell phone and credit cards. My mom agreed to pay for my pharmacy schooling starting this summer. She also agreed to pay off my credit cards next month and is buying her and I BOTH a 2008 Chevy Aveo (cash) next month and she said she will pay my insurance. So I guess all I'll do is save for a new Camaro.
P.S. I've never been spoiled. My mom was military for 8 years straight and made me work for everything I got as a kid...so I'm a little surprised that she is doing all this for me lol. |

So if there's a combo package, it should be RS/Z28 with the looks and performance. Maybe the SS in 2011 would have a 500+ hp package that can complete with the new Shelby Mustang. Be nice to see that car-war happen again. GM won't let Ford be the leader, no way. If what I've seen talked about so far the V-8 is a 6.1 Liter engine, that's 372 cubic inches. That rocks for a small block Chevy. I don't think the AWD is going to happen, but who knows.

Call the Camaro with AWD the SS/RS (rally sport makes me think of rally racing) and the options would be mostly basic (to save weight) like maybe power windows and that’s it. I don’t need AC (or leather seats / a sun roof) in Seattle. And the Engine Specs could be SS / LS3 with a Z/28 package (sport tuned engine and exhaust) and a RS performance package (Supercharged with oversized disk brakes all around) I think these combinations would greatly compensate for the added weight of the AWD. And I’d pay 5 to 7g's more for it! That’s how important AWD is to utilize all those HP’s living in the great white north! And what a kickass car would that be!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

here we go with this age old battle! in my opinion, the ss was and still is the one. look at 1969. there were 20,302 z/28's built, but only 13,970 ss's were built. we all agree that the hp ratings were complete farces, so i won't try to say the z had the stated 290, it dynoed closer to 400. the ss was stated at 375 [B]rwhp[B]. there's no telling if it was undershot, but that was rear wheel, so in truth, they were probably very close, regardless of the z's 94 less ci. however, to make it more complicated, the z was $3185 while the ss was $3100. but wait, there's more, the z ran the 0-60 in 7.4 with a 15.12 1/4 at 94.8 mph. the ss did an impressive 6.8 0-60 with a 14.7 1/4 at 98.7 mph. so what makes the decision? hp is hard to say, rarity the ss wins, prices the z was more, engine size the ss takes it, and speed the ss takes it. it's really pretty close, but i would have to say the ss, just cuz nothing says good ol' chevy power like them 2 crooked letters! but to each his own!
sorry, i just had to get all that out. i got my #'s from howstuffworks.com |

IMO, what it all comes down to is this...
Are you really going to let the "badges" of the future top dog Camaro mess w/ you that much? Nope. When you see what's offered and have the cash to pay for it, and the name isn't what you wished, you're still gonna buy it anyway!...regardless of "SS" or "Z28" badging. And, like all the others said, if it bothers you to that point, take the badges off and put something else on. Again, according to GM, it's still going to be the same. |

And I'm really talking 1st gen only. If anyone here is 45 or older, you can understand my point. I've had the SS, and the RS models too. But nothing turned heads like the Z.....NOTHING !
