It works...trust me. Once you take cap off, you have to rotate the cap within the lanyard so as the arc of the lanyard sits in the hook...If you do it right, it will just lay in there.

Or you can get this and be done with it.

It does work once you understand the ways of the force.

It doesn't work for sh*t. Isn't it great that we can worry about this mundane crap instead of exploding engines or transmissions. I love my 1SS and I am very careful filling it. I think that a rubber band looped through the plastic cord would stay on the hook. The money that we paid went to outstanding engines and drivetrains. Independant rear suspension, 20" wheels, Brembo brakes, Bose stereos, etc.

Yeah, glad this is all we have to worry about!

Mine works fine though, you just got to finesse it.

What's the big deal? One click, two click as long as the thing is on.

As Camaro Envy stated it won't let it click more than once. After you click it once, if you let the cap go it will let you click once again. The issue is not too many clicks but ensuring that it gets a good seal by clicking it once. If you didn't turn it until it clicks your service light would most likely come on.

Dustin is right on. The cord is too dam stiff. I checked this on my 08 SS Impala and the cord is not stiff at all and stays on real easy. Some knucklehead probably did a 5 cent cost savings and bought hard plastic for the cord.

By the way, the SS Impala also has DUAL ELECTRIC ADJUSTABLE SEATS!!! Hey, maybe since they are leather with the SS Logo, I can switch out the Camaro & Impala passenger seat.

Yikes! I wouldn't want to take a chance on something being transferred into the gas tank, which would be my luck.

I hated the old cap holder where the dang cap kept getting in the way while pumping gas. If you use your finger and push the little plastic tether into the hook, it stays just fine. Well at least mine does. If you having difficulty, verify that you don't have plastic buildup in the crease preventing your tether from staying put. You can always take an exacto knife and enlarge the opening to hold the tether better.

+1. This has happened to me each time I've filled up.

I just lay mine over the top of the gas nozzle while filling, then remove nozzle with right hand while cap in left hand and screw it back in before I put the nozzle back on the pump. Haven't had an accident with it yet.
