There was rumors couple of years ago that LS9 engine was actually DOHC V8 engine. But of course it was CIB design. Of course there is rumors starting that engine in next corvette C7 will be DOHC with smaller displacement, DI etc.(not Ultra but new design ). Who knows ..maybe we will see new v6 with turbochargers as base engine in future vette and top versions of camaro. Or CIB with small displacement DI and turbocharger...and in 15 years...who knows. Sooner or later displacement will be getting smaller ,and power will stop to rise.

Here it is. I actually found two. huh...who knew!
They're internet magazines (Winding Road). But there's some REALLY good stuff. Let me know if you have trouble finding anything.

http://magazine.windingroad.com/wind...web/?folio=116

I encourage you to read the whole second article. So I didn't quote anything. This is stuff coming directly from the Corvette team's mouth. So may there be no misconceptions.

I'm guilty of falling prey and falling into the CAFE doomsday hysteria-hype mentality. Fact is, we're years away from 2020 and even further away from the point in time when oil will run out (which I don't believe will be 40-50 years, I thought it was a good deal longer than that?). Beyond that there are a plethora of technologies both known and others still in development that will help us decrease our oil use and still provide a way for consumers to buy the kind of cars they want, and that includes us enthusiasts (I can't imagine someone buying a 5thgen being anything less). There will be adjustments that will have to be made on our part, but in the end it's a win win for everyone, and I wouldn't doubt a company as large as GM not being able to pull this off.

You drive because you have to?? I cannot imagine an amount of money that would make me give up driving.

Don't get me wrong, I would never buy a Bug, but, VW did what GM's doing now. They had a much longer time between the death of the original and the start of the new than GM does. Most of their previous "fan base" was no longer interested in that type of vehicle, and quite a few of them were no longer around, so VW had to get a whole new fan base. Short development period, but a solid product...has been for years, with no signs of slowing down
Actually the original was made continuosly by VW until after the new bug was introduced, just not sold in the US. I am not going to try to guess how long after because if I got it wrong someone would look it up and crusify me with it.

I've read both articles before. Nothing is set in stone. We can pick this conversation back up around 2010.

Not if it is faster and looks better than a lambo or ferrari, I also recall you saying you want a v6 but you didn't want a hybrid, and you want pure American muscle? If you plan on a v6 don't fool yourself, the hybrid would be a welcome to power and efficiency.

Woo I'm happy to see not everyone freaking out about CAFE anymore haha. But yeah thats not too much to worry about because of what people have previously mentioned. I also think the Camaro is going to be a pretty good hit as long as its priced correctly with good advertising.

I've owned a chevy blazer... it got 15mpg in the CPI 4.3L V6. sick engine, but so inefficient. if i can get 300hp out of a V6 i'll be happy i'll still get 250-275 lb/ft torque that'll kick the ass out of any Mustang GT. I'll have a sick body with a sick engine and a sick sound to it. might i wait until i can afford a V8 to get it? yeah maybe, but if i wait too long i might not be able to get it because by then i hope to have kids. i don't ever want a hybrid. i agree with most people that an I4 isn't redic in a camaro, but a hybrid?! i don't like the sound of that. i do like the AWD idea though in upstate ny you need it more than in the pacific NW. better accel, but worse handling... 50/50 weight distribution in the V6 version though? idk... hard decision...

I think considering a I-4T will help keep it in the race. If they can make it more appealing to a broader range of buyers, I don't think they can go wrong. The only downsides that I can see to this is that there are going to be so many on the road they won't be unique.

if they are going to honor the past camaro they will have different appearance packages to keep this from happening. i hope to god you aren't right though... this is a very unique car and that is why it has such a cultist following...

Be prepared for a surprise.

Embrace change. It is -- inevitable.

All that said, despite the aforementioned changes, I think most of us will be satisfied with what will be coming.

It's not doomsday, it's a shift of perception.

Welcome aboard. We will still have fun.
