I second that opinion. The other dealerships around are not that great. I think the dealership wants to fix the problem but GM doesn't have a fix so they have their hands tied. I have just over 10,000 miles on my ZL1 and have smelled the burning oil since about 1,000 miles. I've had other quality issues as well such as an improper routing of the battery cable causing it to rub on the belt down to bare copper, leaking coolant from the intercooler connections, and suspension popping in the rear. Maybe my ZL1 went through quality control on a Friday afternoon.

That's too bad. I haven't had any problems with mine (yet - knock on wood).

I hope you get the problem resolved but the Texas Lemon Law will be of no help in this situation since your complaint is just a smell...

If you have purchased or leased a new motor vehicle and it develops a defect or condition that substantially impairs the motor vehicle’s use, market value or safety, you may be eligible for relief under the Texas Lemon Law. You are required to allow the manufacturer a reasonable opportunity to repair the defect(s) before you may file a complaint for lemon law relief. There is a $35 filing fee required with the submission of the Lemon Law complaint form. The number of reasonable attempts may vary based upon the defect’s effect on the normal operation of the motor vehicle.

Are you sure the lemon law doesn´t apply. The smell could be considered a saftey issue if the odor includes toxic gasses.

If they were toxic you wouldn't have responded.

I hardly think that the smell of burning oil could be considered toxic...otherwise most of us would have died in our teen beaters...lol

Thanks Ted! I tried as others have stated to tell the OP that in an earlier post. Now that I think more about it that is exactly what happened with my car. It just disappeared after a spirited drive through the hills and never returned. I was babying the car when I first got it as most owners do initially.

Yes Sir These cars are Meant to be Driven Hard and Put away wet.

I had that smell with 3K on the Clock Worse right after the first Oil Change, after a day a Lime Rock Park it is Gone for Good.

If you get the Smell, Beat The STINK Out of It .

Ok, so I'm not the only person with this problem because I can smell it in my clothes.

I wear a little colonge and can't smell anything after my morning drive but when I come back from lunch it smells like I've been at the track or something. I mean, it's not a huge deal but I don't turn wrenches for a living.

So according to GM this smell is normal??

I was getting it too. Changed the TB to V Max (from Jennetty) and found oil in the old TB. Added catch can (also from Jennetty) and no smell since.

How much did the catch can cost?

I put 7800 miles on my 2013 ZL1 and I've never had a hint of an oil smell.
I feel your pain and hope GM makes it right.
