Chance, to "them", that makes you a fanboi. Funny, though, how GM folks dropped in from time to time on that thread. The "passion" was palpable, and decisions were made.

Then when it came to be I was disappointed (and displayed it) that they went over the top for the average Z/28 lover. Especially that only a few will be made causing the dealers to rape us with their M/U.
Unfortunately, so late in the Gen-5 cycle, R&D co$t$ and final vehicle content are forcing the price beyond what most folks initially hoped for and/or expected. NOT a "fault", per se, but a REALITY the Ford fanbois wanna make into a crippling situation which, of course, it's not.

The Z/28 is restricted only by a predetermined number of certain components, spread over a 16-18 month production cycle. "If only so many can be built, in total, then let's attack this project by making the car as track-able as a VIN'd/warranteed Gen-5 can be, without impeding too far into Corvette price territory."

The benchmark will be set, and Ford knows that. And they will respond. And so will GM. And, perhaps, Mopar.

Let's hope this tit-for-tat continues. As car guys and consumers, we're the beneficiaries!

Yes.
No doubt I'm impressed, make that very impressed with what they've done. However I view this as a Z/28-R. I would have preferred a Z/28.

GM was constricted, as Ford was, to the current architecture in place to put stuff inside of it for lack of a better phrase. Chance for the longest of time made a sound argument for what the Z/28 should be. Probably alot longer than some of the posters here have been on the board, by the factor of at least 100X. We gotta dance with who brought us, but, in the end some things on our wish list came through and some didn't. It's a grand finale fifth Gen Camaro ride to be respected and reverered...so much thought and innovation has been put into the Z/28 with the engineers having one hand tied behind their back.

I think the Z28 is what it should be, a track beast. The ZL1 was kind of confusing because back in the day it was for drag racing. They did focus on drag racing in the ZL1 as well apparently but for some reason people think it's strictly a road course car? but that was the Z28's job. The ZL1 was designed to be an all around type of thing and plenty of work went into it's drag racing attribute despite what people want to believe. that's from the horses mouth not me.. http://media.gm.com/media/us/en/gm/n...amaro_zl1.html
