Terrible idea.

By the way, when I traded in my 2012 V6 for my 2013 SS, insurance went up $8 a month. They said it had nothing to do with anything other than it being one year newer car than the other one. More expensive to replace I suppose.

I started driving when I was 20 also; but my insurance in WA was only $75/month for just liability only on a 1994 Ford Ranger; then when I got a car after my ranger ate up the tranny my insurance was closer to $100ish/month.

Now I pay about $58/month for my 2014 C5 that's only cuz I have a multi car discount; otherwise it would be somewhere around $70ish/month

Its not worth it. My insuranceaactually dropped $20a month when I switched from my 2011 LT1 RS to my 2013 2SS. The insurance company said the newer cars have more safety features. It would be cheaper to get a new SS
.

Yes, my own policy. I just bought a used Mini Cooper S for a daily driver. My insurance is now $180 a month for both the Mini Cooper S and the ZL1.

Keep in mind that your location will also affect your insurance rates. In Phoenix AZ it cost me a little under double what insurance in Indianapolis is/was, same driver/coverage/car. They claimed it is due to the proximity to Mexico and high vehicle theft rates with cars disappearing across the border. Wouldn't let me keep my Indiana plate either because "you can sell it to take stolen cars across the border."

So I guess CBP doesn't check for stolen vehicles exiting the USA? Not only that, C5s have onstar but recovering it in Mexico will be next to impossible so maybe notify onstar before it actually makes it to the border .

Going from my LS to SS my insurance only went up $19, made it out to be $139. That's with a point on my record from totaling my LS....27yo.

Man to those who are getting good rates do you have full coverage? If so what carrier are you going through? I have progressive right now.

I think I get a decent rate. I have full coverage with Progressive and they cover my Camaro and my Jeep. Then again, I'm 34, so that probably helps.

I have found progressive to be one of the most expensive insurance companies, actually Geico, Farmers, State Farm (they give you very little for high dollar).

My insurer is Ameriprise through the costco membership discount program and I'm 34 so my payments for 3 vehicles is $182/month all with full coverage; but if it had been 2 it would be around $160/month
