Where I live there's not even roads of thruways long enough to achieve that and that's fast enough anyways. Acceleration is what makes a car fun, not how you can go 150mph.
My M6 Cummins HO pickup is rated at 245hp/505tq, torque comes in ~1300-1400rpm, quarter mile comes in the next millennium. Tow a 15k# fifth wheel in the Rocky Mountains and you'll understand the difference between I6 and V8 diesel torque curves pulling heavy loads. Typically, higher diesel HP pickups accelerate faster given gear ratios and weight.

But, you are simply wrong if you believe others in the world, or outside the US don't use HP as a go to measurement of power. Modern train locomotives use diesel engines to drive electric motors that give tractive effort to move trains. Most current Electro Motive (EMD) and General Electric locomotives are rated at 4400hp, not the diesel's torque.

My large LPG fueled Farmall tractor is rated in HP, as are the new diesel tractors you see at the dealer.

From electric motors (ever see an electric motor rated by torque?) to Camaros, horsepower is our comparative unit of measurement, not torque.

Congrats TRW. Great power and awesome track times to go it! Those VVT cams are really making a lot of power under the curve!

I think this is meant to be a 1/4 mile car not a DD.

BTW fixed it for you.

I don't think I would be able to live out there. I don't like the heat much though I'm starting to want some here. Its still snowing. Perhaps someday I'll take a drive and experience the open roads. My particular want for acceleration obviously is an effect of my environment as well as yours for your environment. We also do not have a 1/4 mile track to race on, ours is an 1/8 mile. Such is life here in Buffalo.
Drive north about 60- 70miles to TMSP for 1/4 mile drags

My car can be a DD the only reason its not because I have a truck I drive to work! I drive it on nice days and weekends and have taken it on some out of town trips and got 21+ MPG!

Sure but if you had 4 seasons like we do then it would be a 3 season car at best
