May be a different reason than what u expect to hear. May be what they really suggest is a pricier option yet internet shoppers drive prices down so they offer an inferior package. Match springs to your lift. Just like what has been said above. Overkill and over seat pressure is not wanted nor needed with a cam.
Before u drop and pop off to me like u did axis, I run a ss3 cam from GPI with BTR goods. Enough lift to spec it right.

Did you go with BT cam? Just received my package yesterday and it is identical to yours. BTW, are you an L99 going LS3? Just curious on the length of pushrods needed. I know you should check them during install, but just curious if the L99 is 7.4
