So is this "GUILT" I am feeling here?
Or is it me simply wanting wine when I only have a beer can buget?
The economy has to be making a Big Impact on whether we all by a new camaro next year.. I am sure GM is thinking the same thing for avge blue collar folk.
I took a calulator to it last night. If I can get this car for around 35K, I should be able to do it. But by the skin of my teeth. Not sure how I can fuel it for a full year. That is another think I am thinking of, making a savings set aside just for fuel alone for one whole year at a time. 3k or 4k.
Do we know how much this dam car is gonna cost with over 400 hp??
I am already seeing dodge dealers getting 50k for a 40k msrp on the new challenger. WTF???
Chevy is already stated the Camaro will not be as cheap as a mustang in comparison. Well if Dodge can get 40k 50k for a challenger, Ill bet you sure as shit the 2010 camaro will be 35k plus. Any takers?
With that being said, I have set my goal at 35k.
If the car is 40k plus, I can already figgure on paying upward of $600 a month for the car, even after I sale my Jetta, and my bike. That being said, A 40k 600 a month car payment I cannot afford.
AGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH
I wanna scream...
GM... Promise us we can afford this car so you can continue to make this car for at least the next 5 plus years... Just long enough for your DIE HARD Bow tie fans to be able to go out there, show them challengers and rustangs an ass whuppin'.......or two....
But daddy GM, we can't whup a rustang or that new tempting us to buy 6.1 litre challenger
screamin "HEMI....HEMI....HEMI..." at us.....all day long without the money for our tools to do the job right the first time...
Did you get all that?
Im having a moment here..
Imonly a few years younger than you, and am in the same boat. But I'm having no regrets. I'm getting the Maro. I sill have pretty decent credit so I should be able to get a pretty good note.

I say get it, if you can, and enoy it. If you run into troubles - you can always sell it within the first two years and come out only a little behind.

Hey, since your close to me in Mesquite, maybe when the time comes to "retire" we can build a tin shack and share expenses.

Still have the '68? Wouldn't mind meeting some weekend for a quick ride.

No. I sold it last summer to a guy in Mesquite by the name of "Jason."
The car is still in Mesquite as far as I know, but have not seen it this year.
Last time I saw the car was last summer he had it up at keller's.
I was thinking about building a 68 RS convt (which I have not totally ruled out yet) until I renewed my interest in the 2010.
If I keep spending money on toys and hobbies and stuff like this I really don't need, Ill need a tin shack.. but....
Id rather have the shack AND a new 2010 camaro parked out front.

Well, i'm putting an add in the paper soon, probably next week to sell my bike.
Not gonna miss it much anyway, it's an 05 and i've only put 1800 miles on the damn thing.
The 4th gen is going bye bye too, probably in the summer sometime.
And depending on pricing of the top dog 5th gen, i may end up trading the Jeep in on it as well.

The closest i can get to paying for it outright, the better.

Oh yeah, and that trip to Bosley for new hair is being put off for a while too.

Well, I just made a big part of my sacrifice this weekend.

Traded in my 05 LT Z71 Crew Cab for an 02 LS Tahoe. It's not as nice as the Truck. But, with the equity we had in the truck and some cash. , I had enough money to take the Taho, payoff the truck and almost all of the car loan. I should finish off the car in a couple weeks, if not a month or so. After that we should have the credit cards paid off in about 9 months and be free and clear except for the house payment. Man it will feel good. Then we start saving for the Camaro. I hope to have at least 10K to put down on by late 2010 or early 2011. I can't wait to have all my debt taken care of. I'll miss the truck, But the Tahoe is better for the family with baby number two on the way. Woo Hoo! Our family keeps growing.

^Congrads. I'm working my butt off trying to get that credit card paid off. We have my wifes car and the CC right now. No other debt, except for the house. Just put a huge chunk down on the CC w/ our tax return and are also going to put that extra return we get this summer towards it as well. Hopefully, we'll have it paid off by.....the end of the year??? Nahhhhh..... But, we're trying!!!

Oh, and we have about 15K left to pay off on my wifes car. My SS is PAID FOR!

I'm right there with you. Getting my debt paid off will make a big difference in whether the wife keeps working or not. We'll see. She's about ready to apply for nursing school so we need to have all our finances in order... Otherwise, stay at home mom and full time student... That's a bit much. But full time student and the little ones in Daycare... That works much better.

Clark Howard is my hero.

I'm in a similar boat and, too, am hoping to have at least 10% cash for a down payment. I'm hoping to be able to find some special financing rates too, which would be nice.

just a thought for some of you I dont know if your dealership will do it but mine did I am making "payments" on my car now even though its not here yet. if your dealership is part owned by a company then maybe you can buy stock in it. Mine is and I now have several thousand invested in them. it also has other benefits as you get invited to the shareholder meetings and can learn some interesting stuff as well as your money is growing at the same time. I have been putting in $400 a month and if something went wrong then the money is still mine I would just sell my stocks. it also helped when I needed a new truck for work as I got a better deal. it made it possible to have the truck paid off in another 9 months from now and then that will be less money going out as well as by then I will have another $3600 towards my Camaro. I may not have the background and experience some others have as I am not even 30 but I have sacrificed everything to get my depts cleared. by the end of 2008 I will only have a Mortgage to worry about and a Wedding in a year or so (Dear God help me keep the costs down on this) My GF loves the car and only wished it would be here before the Wedding but if she wants that then she has to wait on the wedding. well I'm gonna quit now ttyl and I cant wait to meet on th Hiways and know that I have possibly talked to you online like all the rest of the Camaro Enthusiasts.

PS sorry for the bad grammer I never was good at it.

I'm budgeting to save up at least $40k by February 2009. I have no idea how much more we'll have to pay up here in Canada, but I'm hoping the top-o-the-heap Camaro will be under 45k, preferrably 40k at the most. I'm being as conservative as I can with my estimates and budget so that if it comes out and it's only 35k then I'll be laughing. Depending on the difference, a run to the states may be in order.

My truck paid off, but since I need to keep it for work, I will have about $8k in savings once GM rolls the 5th Gens out of the plant. Who needs to eat, right??

Please don't be offended, but I think that you sound a little too inexperienced to be in the OTC market. A small position that gets you discounts and insider info might be a good idea, but you money would probably be a lot safer in a no load mutual or Ing account.

If something goes wrong at the dealership your investment could quickly become worth significantly less, or even worthless. And even f it doesn't you may still have trouble finding anyone will pay what you paid. The problem with buying stock in small companies is that you can't look at look at the WSJ or e-trade to see what they are trading for in an armslength transaction. You have to trust the salesman and/or do your own research.

I'm already making a huge sacrifice and driving my '96 Bronco for another year and a half (I want the rag top). I just scored a huge raise that would easily cover the payment on a 335 or S4, but I really dig the Camaro. Maybe if I get the promotion I'm working on I can buy the sauerkraut mobile and give it to the wife when I get my Camaro...
