What was cool?

Driving from SoCal to Florida down the southern route (I-10?).

Louisiana apparently has no speed limit on Sunday, as 80 year old grandmas who could not even see over the dash were going 80mph in their Buicks.

Then you hit Florida. There was a huge portable electric traffic sign:

"WELCOME TO
FLORIDA
PLEASE SLOW
DOWN."

R.I.P. to the driver...

We're here bashing the Camaro owner for street racing, yet most of us have have at some point run our cars on the streets. All it takes is one time, to lose control of your car and endanger ypurself and others around you. I feel the person who died is non-deservant being called an idiot for what happened.

Also being from Miami, I will agree we do have horrible drivers. But we rank 8th in the nation, Washington, D.C. ranks #1 in the nation.

Aren't most the cars in DC stolen and sporting 26" wheels?

I think that's L.A. ( and I don't mean Lower Alabama) you are thinking about.

A couple years ago they put a law up here in Ontario . If your caught doing 30 mph. or more (over the limit) in a zone , it's considered "street racing" and your car is impounded on the spot , you lose points off your licence and a minimum $2000 fine .You don't get your car for a week and if there was an accident it'll be worse for you. Don't hear of much street racing around these parts.

There is a VERY serious problem in our government today. It has to do with asset seizures.

You don't have to be convicted of a crime (or actually do anything illegal) to lose your property.

It's unconstitutional big time, but is a quickly growing concern. It went from a few million a year a decade ago, to over 100 billion dollars today. Law Enforcement is now seizing assets for profit without even filing charges against the owner.

They got it passed during the War On Drugs, but now it's used for pretty much any kind of activity the government is suspicious of.

People in the vicinity of a street race in the USA can (and do) get their car taken and sold by the government.

Sometimes I feel like a cast member on Fringe...

No, all the stolen cars in LA are in use in Mexico. Mostly by the politicians and other gov't employees.

Years ago, they found that 50% of the police vehicles in Tijuana were reported stolen in the US.

You are right, he won't hear it. He's dead because he was being an idiot. If you act like like an idiot on the streets, you are an idiot. I would also call you lucky if nothing happens while you street race, but still an idiot

I have no sympathy for drunk drivers or street racers.

Sanctioned Racing

Sad to see a fatality. At least he didn't kill a bystander or someone else in another car.

This is what "grudge night" is for at the nearby drag strip. Work it off legally and safely.
