Mine doesn't run non stop with the engine off. I've read the pump will shut off if it doesn't detect a load.

So the pump keeps running after the car is shut off under pressure I guess? I know when the car is running the pump should be running all the time.

I can turn the pump on with my aeroforce interceptor while the car is off. I am assuming it detects no load and turns off and on.

Are you checking while the car is running? How are you verifying it's not on?

ON @ idle.... You can feel pump run and/or stop by putting your hand on it.
A little tricky while driving but, easy when at idle

Yes, or you can feel the hose that goes into the top of the pump.

When you say full tank, you mean where the fill cap is? Or where is this? Also will the connection work with the smaller opening? I need to do this, my IAT temps are running 170-175 degrees. This is using a coolant vacuum bleeder system to fill with.

Thanks!

After reading the posts in this thread I thought I would check the operation of the coolant pump in my car. Using HP Tuners and with the engine off (not running) I can start the coolant pump and it will continuously run until I turn it off using HP Tuners. There is no intermittent operation that some of you describe. I let the pump run for about 10 minutes. The pump never once stopped then restarted on its own.

Although it is probably fine, it is better to check it whilst the car is running it so the cars ECU can disable it should there be air in the system.

Whilst this is hard to diagnose you can get your hand carefully down in there on the pump to feel if it is running, or you can hold the hoses and feel the coolant flow especially if you give them a squeeze.

At the end of the day these cars do have a load sensitive intercooler pump if it isn't bled properly it is going to cut in and out, a reservoir "should" have been installed at the factory to solve these issues, since that wasn't done you should get yourself one, it makes bleeding the system super easy and the system will be 100% full.

Even if you bleed it properly which takes about 1hr and 2 people when you do cap the system back off it does suck in air and puts it back down to 98% full if you are fast at putting the bung plug back in place.

Basically save yourself time and the worry of it all and get a reservoir.

Prior to having my S/C replaced I had an occasional puff of white smoke on startup. I needed to top off coolant in the S/C system several times a month. Do to this I suspected an internal leak. I spoke to the Tech when the S/C was replaced and here is what he discovered.

No it's the cap under your red engine cover to check fluid level
