Just got back from the dealer and he said there was a "shifting" code set - I didn't get the number. He wasn't sure what that was about and had never seen it before - he cleared the code. I guess it could have been from the dyno run on Wed afternoon, or from the install of the skip-shift eliminator. Anyway, if it happens again, she'll have to go for further diagnostics :(

Happy for now! I can just ignore that darn shift indicator!

I just completed the skip shift install on my car, and I'm glad I finally did it. Whoever thought this crap 1-4 shift up ought to be shot. For anyone considering doing this, it's not exactly easy, but it's worth it. The install is the simple un-plug and plug-in deal you'd expect. But the CAGS solenoid is pretty high up the trans, so getting to it takes pretty small hands. It took me about half and hour to get the thing in just because I had to do yoga move number 12 just to get to the damn thing! One thing on the instructions though, it said the skip shift light on the dash will still light up. Mine doesn't. I won't gripe about that. Anyone else have the same setup with the light coming on or staying off? A+ product!

DIC still lights up on mine, indicating to skip to 4th. Of course, me don't have to no more! I agree, getting that top one unclipped wasn't easy! Glad I had her up on ramps so I could reach on in!

Ok, this is getting me upset.

Who else has the BMC Performance Skip-Shift eliminator?

Started up my car again to go home, and the check engine light is on once again! I know the skip-shift eliminator is working, but the "shift" code is set again! Argh!

Anyone else have this issue? Might be time to remove this one and get another. What are some of the ones you guys have, that are NOT throwing codes?

Thanks

I put a 99 cent, 1/2 watt, 2200 ohm resitor in the plug. 3k miles no lights, no skip shift, no worries.

yep but still it is intrusive

That feature drove me nuts in my 2000 Z28 - I just stopped using first gear - always started in 2nd and went through shifting with no problem - will probably do the same thing in my SS/RS which I am leaving tomorrow to pickup !!

Flying out tomorrow, meeting the folks in Lubbock, drive home and of course requesting a drive by the dealership to see my beauty on the showroom floor. Then Monday sign the paperwork and finally drive away !!

Ordered in February - been a reaaaaaaaaaaally long wait !

Exactly. Just pop out and replug in for warranty. In Canada the skipshift eliminator will be like 50 bucks by the time you get it. Best mod I ever did was get rid of the treehugger option lol.
