hypothetically speaking. if this was a honda forum and you were all like "J series in my 6th gen civic" you would get tutorials and praise from people, not discouragement.

Because the engine he's putting in the car is actually available in the car. And you can buy them new or used, there's no shortage. This is the reason for discouragement.

like a previoius post, this swap makes no sense as there is more involved than just the engine of course. the cost has to be un imaginable. but if he is doing this just as a hobby and has nothing else to do, then i guess its ok. but the resale on that car will be shot. again, like the others, it seems like it would make more sense to fix up the SS he bought and trash out the LT. ha ha

I sure hope you are not thinking of putting in the V-8 thinking your going to save yourself money on insurance! If so, I hope you never have an accident. Once the insurance company finds out (and they will) that you have a V-8 instead of a V-6, you won't get a penny.

I bought my Camaro at 17 and I also have StateFarm. The insurance for the SS would've been $1,700 a year, which is only slightly more than what I paid at the time for the 2LT I have. I don't see why you couldn't get insurance for a SS.

In the diesel world people take a cummins and transplant into ford and it works. So this will work just a matter of time and money.

So many errors in that last statement that I don't know where to start....

They won't even give us a quote. Probably because of my area!

I read about a handful of the haters commenting and stopped. He will not lose resale value on a V6 if its swapped and everything working properly.

Op if you have a full v8 donor car, some patience, and some helpful friends YES it can and will be done fairly effortlessly. Go for it, ask questios, make google your friend, and take your time. I have done things others thought were insane and not doable just to prove them wrong and make a bit of coin too! Pm me if you need assistance.

Sounds like a great opportunity to learn a lot about your car. Hopefully everything goes as planned. Good luck!
