So how many people in say, the last fifty years, have had to surrender their cars due to this? You act as if this is a common thing that people better watch out for.

And a link to the law that states this would be nice. I gave you one.

Hahaha omg snow chains in new jersey, this post made my night. First off I would be more concerned about your car getting hung up on the snow rather than not getting enough grip. I have run through A LOT of snow with my camaro with snow tires.

If you are really afraid of snowmageddon that route I might suggest textile snow chains. I discovered these when buying parts for my old bmw.

They don't surrender it gets impounded. The last SOE where there were travel restrictions there were about 15 cars that were impounded where I work.

I live in Canada and a good set of snows is more than enough. Chains will light up your dash like an Xmas tree though lol. So Atleast festive

A State of Emergency is serious business in NJ. I haven't heard about this specifically, but I wouldn't be surprised.

And fenders if they break. The wire type are best.

Yes, yes of course chains will work on a Z-28. When you get your Z-28 and you give the chains a try please report back to us and let us know how it worked out for you!

the replies in this topic are mostly ignorant. I live in a state that gets snow every year, and my camaro is useless in it. It has one mode of transportation, sliding. With traction control on it's nothing but crunching sounds as it keeps letting off. Which is slightly better than just the whizzing noise of the lightest pedal with traction off. I've seriously never driven a car so crippled by the slightest bit of cold precipitation.

And having had a lot of experience with chains, they are not dangerous if used right, driven properly, and checked for defects. On a camaro, sure that's not the case, but I mean in general. I say that because everyone here seems to think it's a bad idea. And snow tires give a little more traction, but not nearly enough. Like others I can't just buy another car. This is honestly ridiculous.

sorry for wall of text, blame this site :P

edited to link to a couple of great vids

ok so it's putting the same vid twice, don't care, done.

No your post is honestly ridiculous , Either that or you have no ideal how to drive in the snow .
1st chains are mostly illegal everywhere except in the mountains ,
2nd your spewing of snow tires "have a little better traction "is complete garbage , You obviously have never owned a set of snows for your Camaro or you never would of made that statement , I have a set and honestly the car is a tank in the snow , I would put it up against any 2 wheeled drive auto in 6-9 inches of snow no problem .
3rd you lead off saying "the replies in this topic are mostly ignorant." When in fact yours is the most ignorant. Dont tell people that Camaro's are crap in the snow when in fact they are one of the best with proper tire setup. Now some poor guy might go out and waste his money for a beater that will do worst in the snow and cost him a arm and a leg in repairs bills
