When the Camaro was on its way Ford had no choice, and spent a lot of money to develop the 5.0-and it is a thoroughly modern and competitive powerplant. They just made updates to this engine to try and compensate for the additional weight, they won't be doing it again in 2 years.

With all that said, I think the GT350 has a lot of promise, I can't wait to see it.
not really, the 3V in the S197 was a hell of a lot better than the 2V that was in prior Mustangs. Was the 3V the motor everyone hoped for? no not at all, but like you said they had no direct competition forcing them to offer something better. Camaro gets greenlit, Ford beigns working on the 5.0 and sucked for them that it wasn't ready in time for the 2010 model with the new body style. Competition is what makes the best products for the consumer

No! The 2010's were a retro of the 1st Gen that mostly everyone loves! That's the biggest reason ! Well that and the performance and special packages! Alot of ppl didn't like the 4th Gen look! Especially, not over the mustang!

Your little bit of handling argument totally negates any zl1 over gt500 debate.... its preference
Well its Competition so ofcourse there is more a reason to showcase the little extra handling and Most feel like you get so much more with the ZL1 than the GT500!

I'm not a Mustang person by any means but I think the 2015 is the better looking than the previous gen.

But Ford says the Mustang's targets are from BMW and Porsche, amongst others. Not a mention of Camaro, ever.

It seems to me the Ford Motor Company must have got a terrific collective rate on a group summer vacation in Egypt. They ALL took a cruise on deNile (did I spell that correctly?).

Did they need to mention the Camaro or Challenger? I read that as saying quality-wise they were going to be shooting higher than in the past. Obviously the Camaro and Challenger are going to be big competition, Ford knows that.

The fastback lines are gorgeous in person. I was skeptical too until I saw it.

exactly what I was saying! Ford went after those but didn't even come close to it's real competition .

It don't look like a fastback at all to me but it does look like the old accord coupes to me! Maybe it would look like a fastback if the trunk was longer like the fastbacks were! Not a ugly car at all ! Though !

This is true... They havent released the GT500 lap times because my guess is that they were dissappointing.. I think they pick and choose what to release.. Because I think they released the Fiesta and Focus SVT times..

More than likely, yes the Boss was there, but because it wasn't appreciably different from other S197's more than likely they just threw a production body on it.
