I don't smoke. Therefore, nobody smokes in my vehicles.
Smoke residue and smell can really affect a car's value. Regardless if you're a smoker or not, smelling and seeing the evidence of a past owner is never a good thing.

Give the OP some credit for at least being conscientious about not flicking his butts out the window, thereby contaminating only his property. Most smokers live by the axiom,

"The world is my ashtray."

Maan...All this hate.

So what the fella smokes? I think it's hilarious all the holier-than-thou that's going on in here. I love how non-smokers are always 'better' than a smoker because they don't partake. Kinda like the church guy that's 'better' than his fellow human simply because he believes the words in a book that he [likely] hasn't read in it's entirety. (for clarity, I am a smoker, and a churchgoer!)

So much judging going on!

I think it would be pretty cool if everyone would take a step back with the 'if you're a smoker, you're a scumbag disgusting human being' and maybe chill. Nobody cares that you don't smoke. Frankly, folks shouldn't care that OP smokes..seems like he's trying to be as courteous about it as possible towards the non-smokers by smelling as little as possible while still doing what he does.

He didn't say 'dude you gotta try this new brand!' , nor did he try and force his ranky stanky smoky smelling interior into your car. Shit, the guy was trying to help out, and all yall do is rail on him for being a smoker.

That's. ****ing. Lame.

And totally disrespectful.

If he walks by and blows it in your face, call out that smoker because he's a dick. If he's in a corner trying to stay away from the crowd, and then goes and washes his hands before joining back in the party, give that mother****er a high five because he's being courteous.

Sounds like OP is probably more of the latter. So, to that end...

Hey OP. Thanks for the tips. I, too, occasionally partake in some smoking...however I don't do it in the car. But if I did, I'd totally take your steps. Thanks for the good writeup dude.

Where I work you are not permitted to smoke in your 8 hour shift. If you go out to lunch you are not permitted to come back smelling like smoke. Yes they WILL fire you.
More and more employers around here are adopting this policy.
You would think you could fight it but nope.

I smoke in my car in my pickup and my airplane! Why because it's mine! But I don't smoke in the house the wife's car or the suv. Or any of the above if have any of the kids with me. I don't want them breathing that crap. But anyone else your screwed. But I do warn people when they say they want a ride that I smoke but they never care and get in. Prolly cuz I don't hang out with sissys is my reasoning.
