You all make me laugh. Do you think we are born stupid. I have been a Highway patrol officer for 30 yrs. I have ticketed every radar detector ever built. Hell for a couple of years a group of us keep a list of make and models. And yes to the post saying if you play the game with radar detectors you will get a ticket for the full penalty, and yes we tell the Judge you had one. You all miss the point, all the Officers on the road are trying to keep the bulk of the people on the highway safe. We don't care if you kill yourself at 80-90 or 150 miles and hour, we will be happy to ship you to the morgue. We do not want you to take families and others with you. No one said you can't play, I have a ZL1 also a 70 GTO, just do not endanger others.....!!!!!

Nothing blocks the radar, radar jamming is illegal in the USA. But you can still buy devices like the passport 9500ci that will shift the laser speed guns so they cannot get a reading. They are pretty effective versus laser.

I think it is great that you take your job so seriously but you my friend have been brainwashed by the system. Speed does not kill, inattentive driving kills. That is why the autobahn has less accidents per mile than US interstates, and trust me they are going a lot faster than we are. I prefer to race on the track but to be honest it is a shame we have to drive so slow on the highway because our nation as a whole has been deceived to think it is safer to set the cruise at 70 and then check your email and your facebook while you drive than it is to go 80mph... 80 is a crime in most states and checking facebook while you drive is not....go figure.

I do think it's funny when I see a sports car pulled over and there are minivans filled with kids flying by faster than that sports car. At least our cars and other fast cars are designed to handle at higher speeds. I think it is far more dangerous to have a minivan, or a big SUV filled with a family doing 80 than it is our cars simply because those vehicles are not designed to be driven at high speeds (especially with 7 passengers). Where does the greater liability lie, with me in my ZL1 that rarely carries more than 2 people, built to be driven at sustained high speed, or a top-heavy minivan/ SUV full of kids and a distracted mom? I hope when you are on your patrol you just as much attention to those drivers as you do the "fast cars" that may have radar detectors. |

It's a fact that driving while distracted (cell phone/radio changing/texting/sleeping) driving causes a majority of fatal accidents. I can assure you my phone is never in my hand, I don't text, and I rarely even talk on the phone while driving. Both of my hands are on the wheel, 90% of the time as well. Radar detectors also alert you to be aware of what's in front of you. When my detector goes off I look for an officer, and switch lanes away from the officer, you know, like how you are supposed to, even when he had already pulled someone over.
Too bad we can't actually block just text messages when in a vehicle. I've been hit before by a driver who was texting. Luckily not while I was in my Camaro. |

I have my 9500ix on the passenger visor, remote next to pillar on my side so I can see lights and mute. Some guy made the mount and sold them here on C5 back in 2010. This was my first mod to my SS before it even came in
Transferred all over to the ZL1

2nd: Start pulling over more underspeed vehicles and vehicles riding in the left lane without passing, these cause more accidents than speeders. 3rd: Even if I do get nailed by a cop and see him pull out, the quick release on the v1 lets me pull the detector of the window before the cop catches up. |
