OK, I'll let you know how I did it. I set the key flat on the table and had a stack of papers below the key part so that it sat level. That's mainly just for hammering the roll pin in.

Getting the roll pin started is a little bit tricky, but you want to get a pair of pliars, probably needlenose plyers and squeeze the pin to get it started in there.

Is the groove on the key itself supposed to line up perfectly with the hole on the fob? My key has the groove, but it doesn't really seem to line up with the hole 100% accurately.

Yeah, it should line up pretty much exactly. The roll pin is a bitch to get started but hopefully you can get it.

Sorry for the really bad picture, but you can see here that it's clearly not lining up (look in the "hole" and you can see part of the key impeding it, it's defintely going to block the pin from going through). I'm pushing the key down as far as possible, but it still needs to go even further if that groove is going to line up with the hole.

Check to see if there's anything blocking it sliding in all the way.

I've tried for an hour now, it's not going in. I've gotten it into the hole, but the groove on the key just doesn't seem to be lining up with the hole, as pictured above. This is just 1 of 1726261818262 things not working correctly (that I paid money for) this week. On top of that, the broken Oracle LED scanner that I received and shipped back has now been lost by USPS. So, I pay $120 for it, it doesn't work right out of the box, I pay for 2 day shipping to have it returned and fixed, and USPS loses it! Awesome. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll total my car today, too!

In this picture, you can clearly look in the hole and see that the key's groove doesn't line up with it.

I just notice on your picture. Your key does not appear flush to the flip. Mine goes all the way in and yours looks like it's a mm off. It could just be the blurred image. But it doesn't appear all the way in.

Yeah, this is exactly the issue. I got the blades off of eBay, so I guess I picked the 1 listing out of the 100000000 that has incorrectly-sized blades. I'm losing my mind over here, every car part I've ordered in the past year has lead to nothing but stress. It's either broken, arrives 2 weeks late, has to be replaced after a week, etc.. I just can't deal with this garbage anymore.

There are two grooves on the key, one on each side. The one groove is definitely "deeper" than the other, as seen below. But if I put the key into the switchblade that way, the key doesn't "click" closed with the fob when I contract the switchblade. And in order to line up the better-looking (deeper) groove, it has to stick out a LOT (also seen below). Then when I put the key in the other way, the groove clearly does not line up with the hole.

Lining up with the deeper groove has the key sticking out way too much.
