By getting a 9" +20 = you say a 10 mm difference? I'm not sure I understand that? 10mm different from what exactly?

When i went to the offset site, I put those sizes in and it says this:

Inner Clearance: (the inside of the wheel to the strut housing) 16mm LESS
Outer Position: (position of the outside edge of the wheel) RETRACT by 4mm

I thought they were supposed to be the same?

By getting a 10" +35 - you have a 12.5mm difference? Difference compared to what exactly?

I"m trying to visualize how all these are the same.

1/2" (from 8.5 to 9"). This is about 15mm difference (or more like 12.5mm) - but because the 1/2" is split - 1/4" to the left, and 1/4" to the right I only want to add 1/4" more - meaning about 10mm (or just a bit less at around 7-8mm). For a 9" rim upgrade, I don't want to exceed +20mm offset.

1" (from 9" to 10"), or 25mm difference - again, because this is split to the left and the right from centerline - I only want to add 15mm of offset (or closer to 12.5mm, 1/2" instead of the full inch increase because if I go the full inch more in offset, I will stick out 1/2 inch further). So an additional 15mm from 9" rim to 10" rim would work on top of the 7-8mm increase from 8.5 to 9". For a 10" rim upgrade, I don't want to exceed =35mm offset.

In total from 8.5 to 10" rims, that's 1.5" or about 30-35mm difference, so I if I want the same look, I only want to increase about +20 to +25mm, putting the offset on a 10" rim at between +30 to +35mm.

Recall that any increase in wheel size increases evenly from centerline to both left and right.

Hope this all makes sense.

I added more text above, am I getting closer to understanding?

To take this 1 step further, going from the stock 8" +35, to a 9" +20, means that I will increase over an inch in the outward direction. 1.1" to be more exact. As long as there is more than 1.1" of space between the stock wheel and the fender, I should be golden I think?
So lets take this a step at a time:

8" to 9" is 25mm difference. But because the 1" (or 25mm) is split at centerline adding 1/2 Inch to the left and 1/2" to the right, I only want to increase 12.5mm to 15mm max of offset (or about 1/2" out, because the other 1/2" goes into the wheel well) and it will still look the same. If I increase a full 25mm of offset (or 1" because I go from 8" rim to 9" rim), that will add an extra 1/2" to where my tires sit now, that is if I had an 8" rim at +35 offset.

I think I'm understanding better.

So I gain 12 mm on each side going 8" to 9". And by going from a +35 stock, to a +20, I moved the wheel outward another 15mm. Thus the wheel is 1" total toward the fender further than the stock wheels were.

I think that's right?

So my question became, can it be confirmed that there is an inch of space additionally available?

Actually, you split the 1" - 1/2 goes out further, 1/2 goes in further - when you go from 8" to 9". This means from a +35 offset, I only want to add 15mm (or really 12.5mm) in order to have them look the same. You split the 25mm or 1" increase from 8" to 9" because half goes into the wheel well, the other half goes out away from the vehicle.

To confirm, you have more than 1" from the fender to the wheel from Stock... so again, you should be good and happy with a +20 offset.
