Agreed. I encountered a 2013 GT500 at one of my track days and this video speaks volumes. Yes the GT500 has serious power, but the suspension and chassis can use some work..

I ran down this GT500 rather quickly. Unfortunately he never waved me around

THIS. I was going to stick with my 2010 Camaro and pick up a 2017 50th Anniversary 6th gen. However, the LS is such a proven engine my worry was maybe the LT will have a learning curve early on. However I think it has been proven to be a stout engine in the C7. Regardless I'm happy with my decision to pick up a ZL1.

Love the looks of the 2013-2014 GT500!

If Chevy had not given us the ZL1, I'd own a 13 or 14 GT500. Nice write up OP

I'm guessing the GT500 driver felt (correctly or incorrectly) that he didn't need to wave you around since he could pull away fairly strongly in the straights? I'm just asking.

I really enjoyed the vid. What exhaust are you running? Almost sounded open.

He wasn't pulling in the straights, but all the ground I was gaining was primarily made in the corners.

The exhaust is PFADT long tube headers, gutted/no cats, Corsa Catback.

Thanks. You were definitely reeling him in on the corners but in the video it looked like he could pull away when you were accelerating.

Maybe it was just the camera effect.

Are you not allowed to pass unless waved around (I'm assuming it was just a track day)? I've never been to the track so it's all new to me but looks like a lot of fun.

Looks like the GT500 driver was inexperienced.

I see some late throttle due to some early apexes.

I took my 2013 GT500 to Thunderhill here in NorCal and it was a great trip! I had my full Griggs Racing setup and 315 tires in the back. Grip was great but weight transitions were a bit sluggish. I recall being able to get on the throttle a lot earlier. No doubt I'd have better lap times in the ZL1 though.

Here's me ~ June, 2014 @ Thunderhill with my 2013 GT500

Farewell my beloved GT500!

I am not a Mustang guy, but although GM has been a big part of my life, I do take a peek over the fence now and again to see what else is out there. I love raw power, and the Shelby has it, but although it is a cool car, there's that "I'm home" feeling in the ZL1. What it lacks in raw HP is made up for in other places. And then some. And you just can't put that in words.

Don't know how many of y'all are married, but if you are, it's sorta like that moment that it hits you that "I'm in love and that's who I want to marry" (or lust, or both). Doesn't mean you can't window shop ever again, but no more test drives required to know where you belong.

Good write up OP, sounds like an unbiased opinion. Obviously one that many here agree with!
hahaha I'm not sure my wife would approve the analogy but I get what you're saying

I'll go with, "ZL1 is the better fitting glove"
