I'm not worried. In fact, I plan to keep my SS because I love the LS3. Amazing performance from a relatively simple motor.

When i traded in my hardtop i only wanted a convertible with some extra bells and whistles thrown in, i was totally satisfied with the looks and power of the 10s-13s V6s, after all it is the style and model i fell in love with since first seeing it as a concept. This is the reason i traded up for a left over 13 last year in April, ya i test drove a 14 SS even with a manual trans right after i test drove my 13 vert V6, I left that lot that night totally wanting and drooling over that 13 vert V6, after two months a killer deal was struck, and i got my vert.
So what if they are smaller and more powerful then current models? I drive a V6, so the urge for more power aint there for me. and i really dont want this car any smaller.
i really dont understand those folks that buy something new just because it is "newer" "bigger/smaller","shinier", etc...or feel the lesser individual when they see a car pull up next to them that is newer than theirs. Why do folks feel like they gotta have the latest and greatest material things? I will never understand.
I am feeling blessed to be able to own a 5th gen Camaro, i knew something newer and more advanced will come out when i bought my car, do i give a crap? ...........NOPE!

imagine how you'de feel if u had put ten's of thousands of dollars into your s197 mustang with oxcart suspension and then find an all new model with real suspension has been realeased.
the camaro has the right parts underneath ok...the newer one will probably only be subtle changes..

I would love to have the latest and greatest but this car performs great (even for a vert!). Plus, it turns a lot of heads which I do enjoy and don't think it will change once the new gen comes out.

No. The track stars may be swayed to upgrade for less weight and performance, but from the teaser pics I've seen so far, I like the Gen5 look way better.

I could've waited and saved for a 6th gen, but honestly I felt like I wasn't going to like the looks as much.

Make no mistake, the LS3 is a powerhouse platform to build on, so you can be just as fast as a 6th gen. That said, the 6th gens are going to be incredible, and I look forward to GM's improvements.

+1. And if it matters, less cost for registration, insurance, & depreciation - more $ available to spend on mods (or whatever!)

This certainly played a small role when deciding whether to trade mine in/move on.

In most cases the next model for most cars nowadays is an improvement, thanks to constant engineering advancements. Muscle / sport cars tend to buck the trends a little, as they sell as much based on looks ("presence") as they do with their actual performance. Case in point - my 2LS was slower to 60MPH than my new granny buick . But ask anyone, even those who supposedly know cars, and they'd pick the 2LS in a straight line. [around a track - different story!]

Point is - there will always be a market for the car you have, because they LOOK mean even if they don't outperform newer models. Look at classic Camaros - many of them under perform compared to the latest model but fetch a premium because they look a particular way the buyer wants them to.

Expect resale to dip quite a bit. More reason to knuckle down and enjoy what you have.

You getting rid of the Gen 5? Then buy a new Corvette. Who the hell needs a back seat..........

Other than that, who cares? I had each Gen of the F-Body, never bothered me to move along. Well, still have two 3rd Gens, they are now race-only, but did donate on of the 3rd Gens to become tuna cans or whatever the scrap metal would be used for.......

They are just cars, that's all. Now dogs and cats, that's another story.

Thumbs down how should I feel about it being replaced by a Gen 6?

Well, you should go into a corner and cry.

(With alll due respect, of all the questions posted since this site was created, this one gets an award for the most rediculous one so far....)
