To be honest, I wish the days of cheap leasing hadn't gone by the waysides as I don't put that many miles on a car and I like to trade out of them.

Why would a Vette guy want a Camaro? I want something that I'm not worried about driving in what little ice and snow we get here (I've driven the vette in the snow and ice, but it isn't my favorite thing to do), I also want something with four seats (same reason I bought the Trailblazer SS...), I'd also just like something fun as a daily driver. Would I be disappointed in the Camaro? No, because I wasn't disappointed in comparing my 95 Formula Firebird to either my '96 or '02 Vette. I wasn't afraid to put headers, 4.11 gears, CAI, short-throw shifter, and other mods on my Formula...never would do that with the Vette as I know that I'll want to resell it some day. I still own both firebirds that I've bought...haven't kept any of the Vettes. They are each fun in their own way.

Why is it troubling that a Vette guy would want a Camaro? What is there to be disappointed about with a Camaro that I'm not seeing? Is it as fast as a Corvette stock to stock? No way. Does it handle as well? No. Will it have all the quirks of everyother GM product I've owned over the years? (this isn't a slam folks) Yes.

So what is it that is bothering you about Vette guys that want a Camaro?
Perhaps not you particularly, but all too often lately, Vette guys would sell their Vettes and get Camaros expecting tremendous performance. They set the bar way too high and then the Camaro doesn't even have a chance in their mind. They proceed to come on the boards here and complain that it wasn't what they were expecting. I don't know why they do that either. Your guess is as good as mine.

I don't know any reasonable Vette owner that would EVER expect a Camaro to compare stock-to-stock. The complaints I've seen on this board are usually people that bought a V-6 and really wanted a V-8 or the V-8 auto complaints that seem to be getting fixed. I can't remember seeing anyone posting "I sold my Vette for a Camaro, now I hate it" threads...

Please don't stereotype Vette owners...they are as varied as any other vehicle's owner base.

It doesn't, which is why the car is a weekender, but I had nothing close to this car beforehand. You already own a Corvette and the Camaro is still a 3 season car, unless you swap in winter tires. I own a Cobalt SS/SC to get me through year round. Get something else besides a roadster or a Z and then "weekend" your Vette. That would be more responsible than buying all season tires and putting them on a Camaro, don't you think? Not unless money is no object for you.

Knock it off. He doesn't have to explain his actions to anyone. It's time to agree to disagree. Let it be.

Mods, can you lock this thread? It's gone further than I wanted it to. I thought I'd just explain my story and share in the stress of getting a car...

Sorry it got to be a p***ing contest.

it's stories like this and past experience with local dealers that made me order from out of state. Once the ordering started, and Classic Chevy stated they were taking orders at MSRP with a $500 refundable deposit, it was a no brainer. Plus they had 69 allocations!!!
