I'm sorry, both are ok, but historically....it's RS/SS. I just put badges in that order on my Super Sport Camaro. There are lots of SS's , but mines a Rally Sport SS. Just how I was raised. Round 2....*Ding*!

SS RS

SS is a performance package.

RS is and appearance package.

SS trumps an RS always.

Wow, you went diggin' into the archives to find this thread.
RSSS for the old camaros, and SSRS for the new ones.

Exactly! I had a '68 and called it that 25 years ago, and have an '11 and still call it an RS/SS.

That's an awesome way of looking at it haha.

I vote SS/RS for 5th gens. The SS being the dominante role in this relationship. Thats why if you get the RS package, the RS still doesn't get put on the car because they wanted it to be known as the SS regardless... The red tint shows those of us who even know about the RS package that it is an RS.. (you wouldn't know unless you know atleast a little bit about your Camaro) therefor the RS is obviously not as important to advertise andddd soo....

SS/RS.

And I agree with something along the lines of what someone said previously...

You wouldn't say Oh.. I got the RS Camaro with the v8 package or SS package....
NO SIR... v8 is the first thing that gets mentioned.. "SS camaro, with the RS package." SS is not a package. therefor not an added "accessory" It is the type of Camaro you got.

As for the old English technicality.... I am pretty sure they don't utilize any of that when naming cars in USA/Canada.

I drive an SS/RS You can drive your RS/SS if you want !!

Here is another Scenario.

I met a "Canadian Girl named Megan".
I have an SS Camaro with the RS package. In order of appearance - SS-RS = SS/RS

Canadian & SS describe the "type" Girl/Camaro describe the "subject" and Megan/RS describe the extra identifying detail that seperates it from the others.

Thats how I see it anyways.
That part is subjective. I view that as:

Canadian girl = RS as that's what she is
Megan = SS as thats who she really is

But as I said, subjective to the person

I've also always heard it as RS/SS (and believe I even recall seeing some badged that way?). I know the SS option "trumps" the RS option, but I see it as the "RS" part is an adjective that describes the "type" of SS (Noun) that it is. Much like saying "I have a Yellow (adjective) SS (Noun)".

What type of SS do I own? An RS/SS! That said, I feel like the 5th gens are generally referred to the other way around, but I don't care. I'm going with RS/SS, just like in the late 60's!

And BTW, at least one company is making RS/SS badges for the 5th Gen.
http://www.thirdshiftstudios.com/5th...s-emblems.html

These are as I believe I recall seeing them in the the late 60's early 70's... much like Z/28, with the RS part higher and the SS part lower (offset).

I bought a 5th generation Camaro. In 2009 I had the choice of models, from an LS thru an SS. I decided on an SS, I then had to decided what options I wanted on the car, one being an RS appearance package.

Some where on this site you'll find a complete history on the Camaro and the various monikers that have come and gone over each generation of the Camaro and the reasons.

At the end of the day, you can call it what ever you want, but history will record that the 5th generation was an SS/RS.

Either way this debate has gone on for ever
