Just replace it. It looks from the pictures like you might have just enough clearance to get that panel out. Though you do have to remove the panel below it to get that piece out, so it might be risking scratching up something else. The seat belt anchor I believe is a t-25 or t-30 torx bit to remove.

Unless "installing interior gouges" was part of the job description, have them make the repair. I don't think it will be that much of a project. Good luck.

No brainer here. Have them replace the panel. Whats involved to do it is not your worry. End of story.

Thanks again all for your 2 cents. Since im not willing to have my car torn apart again my choices are limited. I thought i came up with a good idea, it was a fail. I got my heat gun and heated the piece up to the melting point and tried to press the texture of 40 grit sandpaper, but didn't work.I think what will work is a thin piece of aluminum. It's going to be powder coated matte black, and then i thought about getting it wrapped in carbon fiber. Thought's on how that would look, maybe someone could do a photo shop on it.

Maybe he doesnt want the aggravation and stress and by the looks of things he did a great job , He actually races his car ,it is not a garage queen , One of these days some fool in a Mustang will clip his ass end as Cornerspeed passes him , and there will be another mark somewhere else , At least the guy is having fun in his car and living life and not worried about being Anal on everything on his Camaro . And just maybe he saved a shitload of time by just doing it himself rather than spending countless hours on the phone . He has better things to do like smoking Mustangs

Still say: talk to an upholsterer

You've gotten the run-down on the fix from people that install roll cages. They do it the way they know how.

Now talk to the people that install interiors. The people that do interiors will have encountered all sorts of problems like this and have come up with all sorts of solutions.

My mailman may know how to paint houses, but he probably doesn't know how to paint houses like a house painter.
