Unless you're taking your Camaro mud-bogging in a sand pit, then once a week is plenty to wash it and maybe once a month or two to polish & wax it. As for clay barring, assuming that the car is on a strict and dedicated cosmetic regimen, that should only need to be done bi-annually. There's no need to get obsessed and spend hours detailing it every single week, you'll just grow tired and stop doing it altogether. A more laidback schedule that you actually sit down and form will be easier to stick to from here on out. Washing a car along with a quick interior vacuum once a week with a full detail/wax/polish once every month or so alone is already much more than what most people do for their cars.

These cars have galvanized steel unlike most classics - vehicle manufacturing has come a loooong way since the old days, I can understand why somebody would be scared to wash a classic car but this is a brand new one. You don't need to worry about that kinda stuff for years to come.

If you want to really nail potential rust where it HURTS, make sure to give the car a thorough undercarriage cleaning once a month with a pressure cleaner on the lowest setting. No dirt attacks a car more than on its underside. Not to mention the feeling you get when you know your WHOOOLE freakin' car is clean as a whistle. Top and bottom. Ahh, it's so nice.

Everytime you drive it that's one less time it's going to work. You know your wearing parts every single time more and more. I would really think hard about even driving it if I were you. You might just wear it out. Which is much worse than getting it dirty. Also when you drive it on the road where other cars have been you just might cause your car to catch something. You don't know where those other cars have been.

Everytime a dark cloud comes up I'm headed to the garage. People at cruis-in's laugh at me.....But I do spend about 2 hrs washing and Z-6 in every Saturday and
everybody knows driving in the rain and a black car dont mix if you wont to keep it
clean.

Clay bar = essential for any brand new car
Unless by some un-holy chance the car was put into a enclosed shipping truck by itself and never saw rail dust from the rail yards...

Seriously ? Clay the car once when you get it at the very least to get the rail dust and everything off that it gathered from its way of shipping.

Did you try the zip-loc baggy test? I did and my car was horrible. Felt smooth as silk until i actually tested to see if there were contaminants.. then I realized how bad it was.

Had my car picked -up in a covered trailor, not worried about rail dust.Cost a pretty penny but well worth it. 4 months old still has not seen a drop of water.

I use an old rag and wipe it clean every other day,but your right I don't put many miles on it.Been pretty busy with work to drive much this year and I'm about ready to store it for the winter.

I have not washed mine yet either. I only drive it on dry sunny days and hit it with the California car duster when I get home followed by Quick detailer. However, I am not afraid to get it wet. I will wash it but not that often.
