I put LT Headers, HF Cats, with a NPP setup on my wife's L99... I have it set to be "wild" all the time... She is now wanting a SS2 CAM from GPI,and would like tumbleweeds.... Loud is all relative...
This is her daily driver....

If mama is happy, we are all happy!

I have Flowmaster Outlaw Axel Back on my L99, no resonator delete, and the car sounds much better. I never experienced the drone people talk about.

The latest thing I've done is add a Roto-Fab CAI, and a tune from Dynosteve with an SCT X4.

If I had to do it over, I would have got the cold air intake and tune first. I didn't realize the tranny tune made so much difference.
The car doesn't lag like it did before, just more fun to drive now, and getting 2mpg better gas mileage. No more fuse pulls, no more AFM.

Now how long can I wait before headers & high flow cats?

I ran the MRT axle back(which I for sale btw lol) for a while until I came across a good deal on the factory NPP exhaust.

That said, if you're worried about drone, you can replace have MagnaFlow mufflers put on in the back and use a Tru-X muffler in place of the stock resonator. The Tru-X is often called a "resonated X-pipe" and it's pretty much exactly what it sounds like: an X-pipe inside of a muffler. You get the same exhaust scavenging advantages with a bit more sound absorption, which translates to lower chances of having drone. The 11386 Tru-X muffler is pretty popular with the Camaro crowd and will fit nicely. You still get a deep, smooth tone that will be louder than stock, but it won't be ear-bleeding.

Are the magnaflow race mufflers are what's used on the competition series cat back systems??

Think about it! Once AFM kicks in your driving a 4 cylinder. Have you ever heard a Honda, Toyota, VW or anything with a 4 cylinder sound tough? I know that soon we will have new Camaro's running around with turbo 4's, and I know they will be able to mod them and make them stupid fast. But IMHO they will sound like crap.
Have you read all the above posts? My '10 SS sounds great even when the AFM
kicks in. The Solo system with J/pipes has eliminated Drone at any RPM on my
Camaro.

Agreed. Solo has done a top notch job ensuring their exhaust system sounds good no matter the mode of the engine.

So I already have my CAI and borla attak exhaust. I receive my kooks LT headers and hfc's today. After installing do I still need to do something about the AFM?

dynomax vt + CAI = good

I went with a Dynomax VT, which I picked because it has an internal valve to minimize drone. Guys on here say it's most similar to the NPP (?) performance GM option as it opens up more with the throttle. Cost and quality are very good for an axel back system. It didn't make a big difference in sound until the recent installation of a COLD AIR INDUCTIONS intake (CAI). Together, the sound is so much better and really opens up the air flow front and back of the car for under $1000. I personally don't love super-loud obnoxious cars, so this is a good compromise for city living. Only loud when you stomp on the gas, and quiet the rest of the time. Noisy mufflers can bring unwanted attention to the car with minimal performance gains IMO. I hear the magnaflow cat backs are really nice as well, and seem to be a staple exhaust on all the car tv shows.
