The V6 has a little tongue inside the fuel filler neck that tastes the gasoline every time you fill up.

It's just another little hidden perk of having a sixer.

You're going to get a whole range of responses on this but the bottom line is the owners manual says 87 and above. Might get a slight performance boost with higher octanes, probably slightly noticeable but also probably a little placebo.

Lower octane burns faster/higher octane burns slower .

It doesn't. The LLT and LFX have very sensitive knock sensors. The pull timing ar anything that is perceived as knock. They actually get quite a bit of knock retard on 87 octane (up to 6 degrees in some situations). Most of that goes away with 93 octane.

does not! higher octane resist pre ignition until the plug fires. when an engine knocks not only does timing get retarded but a part of the explosion of gas is pushing against a still compressing stroke, two power loses.
so higher octane does not in itself produce more power it just does not leave any behind.

I had a ping running 87 in mine, 93 keeps it a little peppier and no ping. 93's cheap these days, so why not.
