I'm 57 and still hand wash my SIM Camaro. I have run it thru the $4 automatic wash a few times, but there is no way a machine does as good a job as I do by hand. Especially the rear of the car, and the door jambs.

I have had my 2012 for 38 months and ~ 46,000 miles now, doesn't have a single door dent either. I park away from everybody else and walk, doesn't bother me to walk a bit. I clay it and wax it about every 6 months too. I have always been particular about my cars, keeping them clean. Oh, and I change my own oil and filter too.

I use a vinyl squeegee to remove the bulk standing water after washing. Then my old worn bath towel dry.

Absolutely wash it myself....

Dry it with a cobra waffle rag, and spray detailer before I apply the rag.

I wash my car myself and enjoy it. 2 bucket and MF for everything along with an assortment of brushes for the rims and calipers! It takes me as long to do the rims as almost the rest of the car. Fixing to take a 600 mile trip this Thanskgiving, have to have a clean car at the beginning of a trip. Temps will be in the low 70's, SWEET

I'm 67 years old and have owned more cars than the years you have probably been alive.

A lot of people will say zen stuff like "to each his own" to that.

I'm not zen. What bossy bullshit you're peddling.

Own as many as you want - owning does not make someone a "car guy."

Back in the day, I was anal about a clean car or vehicle. Car, truck or Jeep, it had to be clean!!
I remember washing one several times and it being so cold that the suds would freeze on the vehicle. Didn't bother me, I just washed away.
The last several years, Ive kept a knock about truck to drive and a '98 S10 ZR2 pickup for show. Black, of course. Something to keep clean. It stays inside. The grandson was 4 when he said, "Papaw, I want this truck".
Now that I have the Camaro, my wife says, "oh no, here you go again!!"
I appreciate people that keep a car clean!! You guys are great!!!
I HATE to see vehicles with the front wheels soooo dirty from brake dust, they look like they are total BLACK from a coal mine.
Back when I still had a job, I'd see cars or vehicles that probably hadn't had a wash job since Nixon was president, HAHAHA.

I use the two bucket system. Dry using microfiber, drying the Windows and door sills first so that the towel isn't entirely dry when I get to the body. Some times I will use showroom shine so there are no streaks and she is glistening. Windows, dry body, wet body, wheels, and showroom shine all have their own cloth.

So your 67...you likely had the same attitude when you were 27...the only thing that's changed is your age. People like to keep their cars clean.....nothing wrong with that. I'm 46 and my car doesn't see the rain if I can help it.
