3 or 4% is a big chunk if you selling say $5000 item

sorry for the rant but long story told GET the seller to send you a invoice not money request

Not true. Friends and Family is 100% free for both parties unless you're using a credit card.

They do change things up from time to time, but there has always been a free option. Our Camaro Club uses it and if anyone doesn't friend us money we refund and have them send so no one gets charged on either side.

Many years ago it depended on the type of account you opened as to which one was free.

This. Bought many parts off this forum myself. Never once been taken. Bought a ground effects kit off a guy in New Jersey, I live in western canada. He told me I could family the paypal if I wanted to save money but it was my choice. I did, after looking at his post history.
So, 2 days later he sends me an email said he had just shipped the items and was sorry for the delay, he added a surprise gift for my inconvenience.
I wasn't even worried yet?
GFX kit shows up, boxed perfectly, brand spanking new as described and in the box is a nickle gas filler cap. $305 canadian if I wanted to buy one.

I just spent an hour digging through my pm's and can't find the seller, too bad, I'd donate a kidney for him (liver is no good) if he needed one.
I've bought 3 major things off C5 and they have always gone smooth as silk.

The internet is full of scammers. I checked this guys post history and sales history. He posts to a lot more than the for sale threads. AND the people who bought off him had great post histories as well. So easy to tell a scammer from a legit.

crazy... the writing was on the wall with this guy... I was warned by another member while I was negotiating with this guy, and glad I didnt go through with it.

He was being REALLY sketchy. Agreed on a price, then another member said sold to them on the same thread, and yet he still was talking about payment, shipping, etc after that with me.

Yeah and he would be like "calm down I have 2 sets....", though you think he would have mentioned that up front if that were the case.
