Like Albert Eisenstein said, no experiments were failed, they all contributed information to the solution that was sought.

Back to the drawing board is what; the American spirit?
Chevy is what; the heartbeat of America?

We like messing around with our cars and sharing our findings. This is great stuff. We'll find the things that this engine likes.

Hey Screaming, thanks for the update but first and foremost, i hope everything is ok with your family. Family always comes first.
2nd, thats too bad....i was really thinking that it would made some decents increases. Great work in atleast finding that work, and dont work. Atleast the IAT sensors look promising. Keep up the good work Screaming and thanks again for the update.
I do have to admit, having the tube with out the silencer sounds great sucking in that air

What do you think of using double sided tape to stick a plate over the opening from the inside? If it proves out to provide a gain then cut off the can and make it permanent from the outside.

Maybe with a couple of rivets for added protection!

A thin sheet of thermoplastic cut to size and two-part epoxy should cover the hole on the inside. It wouldn't do anything to improve the cosmetic appearance, but if it improves performance but looks stock, that can't be much of a downside either.

I'm going to try my version of an intake this week. I'm going to use a Spectre flex hose and a crankcase breather filter that I will put on before the rubber elbow piece.

Couldn't you just use one 45 degree one of their extenders, and then another 45 degree to try to extend the distance from the throttlebody?
Also I wouldnt expect too much of a HP gain with that stock box still causing a lot of turbulence..

UPDATE!!!!

Ok... So I had a very unexpected result from this experiment... turns out I'm allergic to my car! So last Thursday working the intake tube I keep reaching down and leaning on the car... as a result i had a couple scratches on my right forearm.. Friday I noticed scratches were little red areas.. no big deal... Saturday the red areas started spreading and really started itching like crazy!!! By yesterday my arm was swollen, red and the itch was driving me crazy...

So now i'm thinking oh great, arm is infected... but hey I'll tough it out for a few days and see if it gets better... LOL Wife seen it differently... she sends my down the street to the Urgent Care clinic.... oh, yea! LOL!

Ok, doctor comes in... show him my arm and i says , "I think it's infected..." He looks at it and say, "That's not an infection... you're having having a reaction to something... have you been in the woods lately?" Explain to him that nope, haven't been in the woods... just working on the car... LOL! OMG! I'm allergic to my car!!!! So he gives me a couple of prescriptions and I'm on my way!

But it got me thinking today... I've been trying to think of a name for my car..... well it be came very clear today.... And her name is Ivy... Poison Ivy!!!

"She's pretty as a daisy but look out man she's crazy" (from The Coasters - Poison Ivy)

BTW... my arm is looking better today! LOL

Might want to take a look and see where those Spectre parts were manufactured...
