My first two attempts at Engine covers
I am still practicing getting good at painting, but here are my first two engine covers. Mine is the IOM and it's design led to my club Pres. Alex's cover. The IOM cover has silver "valve cover" area's and the middle is Carbon Flash metallic. I used 10mm red LED's that pulse like a heart beat wired to a underhood on/off switch. I have coming a red 3D effect Chevy bowtie to cover the V8 logo area.
The other has middle and side silver sections, and is Carbon Flash Metallic. This one is on a 45th Anniv edition so I made the CFM chevy bowtie and installed the 45 factory logo on it. Also has pulsing 10mm white LED's. Both unit's are plug and play with simple 12V lap top style plugs. I treated this as more of a art project, as they are just covers and for beauty. Hope everybody likes em Pic's are of my IOM cover, the CFM cover, dark photo with lights mine with sun reflecting and the 45th logo.

Update
Newer pic's of mine with my "unique" lighting and a "painting" type pic. Third and fourth are of another cover I did for a club member in Vegas. That cover was 100% smoothed and shiny. Paint was cyber gray metallic to match car and a Burgandy wine metallic as accent color. Red Jewel is no longer available to me, so I picked a close color. Turned out awesome!!!

Once again Nick, I am humbled by your skill and awed by your imagination! How have you been, by the way? I was wondering about you the other day. Linda posted a picture of you working on her car in the "Over the hill gang" thread last week. Glad to see you're still cranking out the wonders! We won our first trophy last weekend! It was a Halloween show, so of course I had to pull out all the stops. Here's how my engine cover fit into things. It's not painted yet. Long story. Anyway:

I've been great! My girlfriend Rita was away back in Canada for the summer. I have her back now so not so many projects. I did some more stuff for linda, she's so in to her car, its awesome! She's getting headers soon too, I don't even have headers :0
My current project is making an exact, or close to it, copy of my car by 1/18 scale from a jada model. It broke down into 47 pieces not counting screws. Gotta paint about 35 of them, and some multiple colors. Oh, its also gonna have LED's. RGB fog's headlights, wheels and foot wells... I have lost it! Gonna be a month or so on that one. Your Green LED theme is great, I mean really awesome! It looks great with the halloween theme too! Very nice! Quote:
