Their lack of optimism may be well-placed. Hot spots are hardened spots that can go deeper than the amount of material removed, maybe deeper than the max removable.

I hope that's not the case here, but you may not get as many sessions out of them as the remaining amounts of machineable thickness might suggest.

Are you West or East side of MI. Where are you tracking Gingerman?

My 2013 has been tracked quite a bit at Laguna and Sonoma out here in CAli since I bought it. Its a great car! I am running a stock motor, exhaust, cooling system with the exception of a 5% lower pulley, roto-fab intake, Motul 600 dot4, catch-can and custom tune. The car has no issues with heat soak and/or defueling throughout the sessions and is exceptional to drive. I did install Eibach springs and invested in a good four wheel track focused alignment (which improved the experience 100 fold). The most notable upgrade was the addition of AP Racing Radical bbk for the front and rear. I can tell you this was huge, the improvement in late braking into the corners is almost racecar like - ability. We all know these cars are heavy and in my opinion the undersized rotors and calipers were a design flaw from the start. Good to be part of such a great group of car enthusiasts. Thanks Doug.

I'm on the west side, and Gingerman is indeed my usual spot.

If you intend to use these rotors on the street, turning them is probably o.k. These rotors are junk if you use them for the road course after machining. A new set isn't insanely expensive as there are a few choices. You can get a new OEM set for sure or aftermarket slotted like EBC (and many others).

Hey, I was in Harbor Springs a few months ago (Mid-August) and a roaring white or silver ZL1 (Can't remember which color) passed me, can't quite tell what color your car is from the picture at the bottom of your screen but, it wasn't possibly you was it? It definitely was cammed and was really loud.

My car is silver and indeed rather loud, but I don't think I had it up in that area any time recently.

I'm curious also on the above post about how this brake system is better than the ZL1 brembos. Bigger caliper? Bigger rotor? Slotted?

I agree. Seems like the whole article is a bunch of marketing words. No objective evidence.

The stock ZL1 is number #13 in the 0-06 stopping list at 100 feet...
