I noticed mine does the noise when I moved it today in my garage! But mine was built after June, 1, 2009 the date on the TSB I wonder if they will follow the TSB repair procedure anyway?

I torqued down the axle nuts to spec 200 pounds and the noise is gone!

Thanks to SSE 4 2SS for pointing me to this thread.

I just left a message for my dealer, since my service writer is off today, but hopefully it'll all get fixed quickly. They had the car twice, a few days each time, and fixed nothing.

Hopefully they'll get it all knocked out this time.

I have a similar problem. When I come to a stop I hear a popping sound from the rear. Its not speed related at all. Just sitting and popping noise occurs. Any idea if this TSB will relate to a car built after 2009 or if this is the same exact problem. It doesn't do it every time so of course the dealership tells me they can hear it.

Ok. Let me throw an L99 twist to this.

Being an auto tranny I can sit in the driveway and put the car in 'Drive', then 'Reverse' then 'D' then 'R' then 'D' then 'R' and get it to 'tink' every time now.

So just to verify with others if possible does (or I guess I should say DID) your 'clicks' sound like hitting 2 glass coke bottles together or kind of like an aluminum baseball bat hitting a baseball?

Mine is bad enough at this point that I haven't been driving the car this week.

Fist time I heard this noise is a few weeks ago. I couldn't replicate it that day but all of a sudden it's bad enough to do it every time I put it in gear.

Thanks Tag for the part numbers. I'm going to check it out this evening. Been busy all week.

PQ,
Looks like you posted this on 5-10-12 and I don't see anything afterwards. Where did this issue take you because my car just started this a few days ago and in a couple of days has escalated to the point that I wont drive the car. It pops on the LH and RH side but the RH is way worse. I have lifted the car and removed the wheels to investigate it. The origin seems to be the outer CV joints and there seems to be some excessive play on the RH side. I basically baby the car. I have never had my car to the strip or done any hard launches with the car. Yes I get on the gas now and again but nothing I would consider abusive and I'm not making more HP than this stock drivetrain should handle. I am baffled as to why I have bad CV joints after only 16,000 miles if that is what the issue is. please let me know how this turned out for you. Thanks

I can understand that this is a frustrating concern that you are having. The best thing to do is to take it to a dealership for diagnosis. Depending on your vehicle as well, they will be able to check your VIN for any applicable recalls or warranties if available. If you want I can check your VIN as well. Let me know if I can be of any assistance.
