That depends on what you consider "ruckus".......

No one is arguing the growl and muscular thunder from a big block or a well tuned LS series engine. However, I would also have to submit that the "whaaaamp" of F1 and other open wheel cars screaming at 12,000 RPM is breathtaking.

A well tuned engine that can run at 6,7,8000 or higher RPM can sound melodic, smooth as silk, or just as angry as the low rumble of a good ole V8.

It all depends on how the engine is built and engineered. Now, there are engines that will run to 7k, but sound horrible. But you take any of Hondas high performance 4 cylinder engines or any BMW inline 6 up to redline and tell me if they don't sound beautiful.

I know a 3.8 is better than a 3.0 -which is what the Camaro (4th) and Ford Taurus have, in that order. and the higher the hp the better.
I'm going to make an effort after I'm done with college this year to learn a bit about cars tho (if i get a firm grasp on the job I'm seeking in law enforcement.)
so yeah...
Not really true. The Mazda 01 Mellinia base car had a 2.5 V-6 with 203 HP but the Millenia S with the Miller engine and a S/C had a 2.3 engine with 215 Hp.

I have a really good feeling that the DI V6 camaro will be very similar to the new V6 mustang - I read somewhere, and I'm sorry I don't remember where, that the average V6 mustang puts 186ish horsepower to the ground, with the manual transmission. Which means its really close to the 210 horsepower figure. But why, then, does the 4th gen v6 camaro put out the same power, at more than a hundred pounds less curb weight, and hit 60 in 2.1 seconds more time (I also read somewhere, and I don't remember where, that 4th gen v6's hit 60 in 8.1 seconds)? Probably because the mustang's power band is right in the gear ratios. And the DI will be right in there with it - albeit much more powerful.

You must have very low expectations for GM

Sorry - I should have clarified. I meant similar in that it will be faster than the horsepower numbers would lead us to believe. I'm expecting a least 5 to 5.5 second 0-60 times.

P.S. I actually test drove a new mustang a few weeks back because my fiance is a big mustang fanatic (it was supposed to be her driving, but she wasn't feeling well that day, so she just rode in the passenger seat) and even she thought it was a piece of s***. No, I think the new v6 camaro is going to be an amazing car - there is a reason why I plan on spending my entire enlistment bonus and base pay from my BCT on one.

That's what I'm hoping for but I think it will have to have more power than the CTS. Apparently, the CTS weighs sub 3900lbs and it does 60 in about 6seconds flat. I don't know, maybe the V6 will weigh 3500-3600 because it's all aluminum.

I'm all about V8 sound a rumble but im also all about the newest and most modern technology out there so i would have no prob getting the DI V6. Even better, i think this V6 will have a cool sound to it.

I know it will. Posted this back in the thread for the spy pics of the LLT, but I'll post it here again. Its a youtube video of the DI cadillac CTS being taken around the track. You may have to turn up your volume to hear the engine will, but thats just because of the excessive sound dampening in the cadillac (theres no way thats going in MY camaro - if I have to tear it out myself!).

^Holy...that sounds pretty mean! I mean not quite V( sound yet but damned mean sound on it. I might have to test drive the V6 as well.

As time moves on we will all look back on technology. The sound of a V6 to a V8 is distinctive. Times are changing. A 396 is no longer feasible. There will be a time when we will all look back in twenty five years and just absolutley rave about the successes of the V6 and it gas mileage.

I personally am having a struggle with living in the past and trying to recall my 1969 350 ci V8 and all of the good things it was. I am now getting prepared to face the facts those days are long gone. I will embrace the V6 for its power and gas mileage.

There is a saying that all things will come to pass. I think the value is there with the V6 and the mileage would be reasonable. If I get real nostalgic I will paint the damn block Chevy Orange.

Watch..all this high gas/oil price will be a thing of the past 1-2 years after people have bought their V6 Camaro..and they'll be wishing they bought the V8 because all has returned to normal.

jk of course, I seriously doubt that. but it would be rather interesting...
maybe the gov't is just waiting for this muscle car phase to be over with and they're trying to rid it the only way they know how, asap.
it's probably a big conspiracy...yeah..they don't want the car industry to explode into a bajillion muscle cars on the road like the 60's...

I personally think that would be the most awesome thing to have many many muscle cars roaring down the road.
makes me wish I was alive back in the 60's Just to see that.

If there is a conspiracy, it's probably to get rid of SUVs, not muscle cars. The muscle cars just aren't that big of a problem.

That's exactly what they want you to think!!
It's all part of the plan...the secret is..SUV's actually get MASSIVE amounts of MPG...you just gotta flip that switch under the gas tank so it moderates the gas consumption more adequately.
The government just doesn't want us to know about it..thats why they can drive the black suburbans all day...ever think of that one? ^_^

this is all in jest btw I don't seriously think this way, lol.
or do I...
