Another beautiful car. 6 spd sports sedan but I don't have that many people with me that much so 4 doors doesn't really matter I could always put 2 in the back of a camaro or srt8. Which do you feel is a better car? Please try not to be bisased. It Will be a play toy not a daily also.
I cannot give you an unbiased opinion.i'm totally chevy 2 first gens 1 5th gen and two more prostreet cars.So i would buy which one will be around the longest and which one gets the most attention.Lets face it chrysler is lacking in challenger sales over the last 4 months with gm and ford staying close.camaro just winning each month.so you make the call.

Well, he didn't answer yet, but if I had to give my best bet, I would agree with him also. First of all, since Pontiac is being dissolved, they will stop making parts for the g8, and the overall practicality of that car will be completely gone. After that, nobody wants to buy a brand that has been dissolved. Sure, it might be the fastest pontiac ever, but that really won't be a selling point to many people, especially when you could get a camaro with the SAME EXACT engine for around the same price used or new. People think it's going to be a collector car, but I don't think the car was special enough. I think Pontiac will be the next oldsmobile.

Manufacturers are legally obligated to continue producing parts for something like 5 years after any model is discontinued. You should be able to buy brand new Olds Alero replacement parts right now (since it was discontinued in 2005). Also, the 'dead brand fear' was pretty much proven false with Olds and Plymouth. Sure sales dropped off in their final year ... because they stopped building the cars!

And lets review what makes for a good collector car potential:
  • popularity with enthusiasts
  • rarity/special model
  • historical importance (the first ever ____ , the last ever ____ , etc)
G8 GXP hits all 3. Enthusiasts love the G8 (its often referred to as the best Pontiac ever), it has a limited production run and GXP is the top trim, its the most powerful Pontiac from the factory in the history of the brand, and its one of the last Pontiacs ever built.

G8 GXP will be worth nothing in a couple years since the brand is dieing. No resale value. SRT-8 and GXp both pay gas guzzler tax.

SS Camaro. No ags guzzler. WIll hold value well.

No it won't. I was only offered $40,000 for my RT as a trade in - what an insult.

Go Challenger. It will hold its value better than any Camaro out there. Mine went up in value by $5000. It's a cool car.

Go with the car that you will regret not having. For instance, if you're driving around in the SRT8, and see a Camaro drive down the road, will you wish you had one. That's how I made my decision. I was looking at the same 3 cars you were and decided on the Camaro.

Everytime I'm driving down the road and see a Camaro (or Mustang), I feel really thrilled I bought the Challenger. Not that I wouldn't buy a Camaro as a... third car. I wouldn't trade my Challenger for anything and you couldn't pry the Mustang out of my wife's fingers.

Hmm. Wife just walked in and said we should buy the V-6 Camaro for my daughter when she turns 16 (in another year). Daughter better get a job. Interestingly, she prefers something she calls "the cube" over the Camaro. I've got some work to do.

The Nissan Cube? But you must be very trustworthy giving your 16 year old daughter a brand new car as her first lol.

No, I'm not. I want fairly new (used but under warranty), reliable, safe and not an arm and a leg. I've seen them (the Cube), what do you know about them? I about choked when I asked her if she would be interested in the Camaro (V-6) yesterday and she said NO! (Not that she would get one) Want's this Cube thing! Where did I go wrong? And don't say by buying the Challenger... Or the Mustang. Why I oughta...

I'm hijacking the thread, sorry, don't mean to. What's this thread about? Did I start this one?

Those Cube's are hideous! Man, she sure doesn't have the good car taste you and your wife have.

I'm curious, why not try to get her in a V6 Challenger instead of a Camaro? I ask cause the Challenger is alot bigger car, and rates better in crash tests. Whenever someone mentions their kid getting a car, I always think of that 'Who's The Boss' episode where Tony got his daughter that huge car, painted it bright yellow, and put reflectors all over it. lol
