By they way, that whole deal where if you lose your job due to unforseen economic situations doesn't go in effect until you've made 11 payments ... I made 4.. missed one, turned into another missed one which i would make up both next week. now I have a repo'd car that they want 26000.00 in full for me to recieve it...

I am extremly sad and depressed, this financial economic system has to be fixed somehow.
LF,
Sorry to hear about your situation I take it from your post you've been having problems with cash flow for a few months now. By allot of the posts offered here, this is hitting pretty close to home for most. The frustrating thing in todays political environment is that debate is dead and open verbal attack is somehow the norm. Look... we all have these same concerns about our own financial situations and families, and to ignore this would not be healthy nor honest. To some how side step these issues are just another example of the charade that "America does not have any problems" some want to portray. We all are going to have to deal with this very very soon. So how does this help you? I'm not sure other than try and take stock of what really matters to you.... Look to your Faith your Family and lastly, your Friends. Cars will come and go... you will survive, Try not to lay blame on your situation, but try and learn from it. We all know the economy sucks and you are not alone in your situation, as millions of folks are looking for work. Try and make every effort to become better from this.... thats how we grow in wisdom and character.

All the best

In your opinion we don't need it. In mine we do. If you don't think anyone can learn from reading people debating with one another, that's also your opinion. I believe people DO learn from debates.

If you can't tolerate reading about people with differing opinions, then you can "opt out" of the topic.

Don't spoil a chance for people to learn other viewpoints, thanks!

It has been tried a few times and it failed and the owner of this privately owned site has decided that we will not have a political thread so it's not going to happen.

Go to a political forum if you want to debate politics. The owners of this website have chose not to allow it and the MOD's are doing their job by backing it up.

Provide a place for it and it will not seep into the regular topics and if it does it gives you more justification for handing out punishments for breaking the rules. You could always say you provided a place for the discussions.

I learn more from watching people debate than reading their "editorials", etc.

How do you think it would ever work when they can't even talk about two different colors without going off their rockers?

I want to READ people debating about politics as it relates to GM and Camaros and cars in general.

It is impossible to find people who know much about cars or GM or Camaros on political forums, and I'm sure if anyone tried to they would probably get told by some intolerant member to go find a Camaro forum to debate about cars.

Back on topic here...

Can someone explain to me the process of having a car repo'ed. Do they tell you ahead of time that you have X number of days to make a payment and if not they will take the car back? Or, do they just show up and take it from you? I guess if they gave you warning you could hide it from them, but what happens if you send a payment and it gets eaten by the post-office?

A few years back, my mailing address got changed in the power company's computer and they sent me bills and I never got them and then they sent me a notice they would disconnect me which I never got. I was just starting to wonder if they had switched over to a 60 day billing cycle when I came home from work to discover I had been cut off.

They fixed it after I got it straightend out but I think it is a ding on my creid score.

OK from experience back about 10 years...I never got repo'ed but the paperwork from GMAC said If I was repo'ed I had 10 days to come current and get the car after that I was responsible for the current payout on the loan if auctioned at point of sale...For those wondering why I know this I was out of work with pluresy and an infection of the inner lining of my heart for 4 months...I went past short term and fell behind alot of stuff it happens...and it sucks! that is why I pay any car I buy now off within 2-3 years tops because otherwise it is always a liability...instead of an asset

Trying to get the thread back on topic... OP, if you had fallen behind on payments, why didn't you just put the car up for sale before the repo occurred? There's plenty of people willing to pay over MSRP, particularly for an SS. You might've been able to pay off the loan balance this way?
