Anyone keeping track of which people that posted in this thread you'd buy a car from? ..and which you'd not?

Contrary to my first post, if this is something you said you would do, then do it. I was under the assumption that they were simply demanding it. As far as the tune, you could tell them what your situation is. If they can re-flash it, they might, but it sounds like they will charge you to do it.

They did not sell me the ZL1. they only bought the old car from me. I then bought the other car from a different dealer. The sales are all done but I am going to demod the car this weekend. I was just surprised they asked it to be done. I told them I was planning on demod de modding the car but they bid on the car with notes stating it needs tires and the CEL was on. I'm thinking if I really wanted to I could get by without doing a thong but that's not me. Also I will be able to sell the headers and intake

If all the mods done were cai, headers, and a tune, just swapping the old manifolds with working cats will get rid of the cel after you do a battery reset. It will not harm the car with that tune on there in any way

That being said, I would de-mod the vehicle, disconnect the battery for at least 5-10 minutes, clear any/all codes and hope the CEL light goes and stays off. However, since you've had the car tuned, I would bet that if the CEL does go off, it doesn't stay off for long and you will also need to get it 'de-tuned'. Good luck.

^this, essentially since the tuner never got rid of the CEL, once you put your stock parts on and reset the battery, it should reset the CEL.

CONCLUSION TO THIS MESS!!
I think I read a few people were interested in the end result of this whole mess. I ended up removing the mods, as promised. Brought the car back to the dealership and everything worked out fine. Thank you everyone for your posts!
